Greed wins, hope lives

I am so sad! I volunteered at his National HQ in Chapel Hill yesterday, and had so much positive response, but I must respect his decision, and I think the reasons will become more clear in time. Yes, greed, and money won. I ran to the store for a quick minute, and that's when I got the call. I hate I missed it, but I won't call back today, I know they are swamped right now.

I think John will carry his message forward, his and Elizabeth's work forward. Right now, I'm just praying for him, his family, and Elizabeth's health -- our nation.

I totally agree with you!!

I too am very saddened that he will not be our President. I felt he was the best choice. I had Republican relatives going to vote for him; and I'll be shocked if they are wise enough to vote for Hillary or Obama...

Thank you John and Elizabeth for not compromising your values during a tough campaign. It must have been frustrating not to receive the media attention and the lack of focus the issues deserved.

I was looking forward to the Super Tuesday vote and now I'm not sure what I will do. I'm sick of the media and the "personality farce" our election system has become.

I guess I have to wait for 2012. Four more years of frustration.

I don't know who John will endorse, right now I hope "nobody"! I may vote for him anyway, voice my protest. I'm not angry that he made his decision, was right for him, his family, our country; I believe that. I left HQ so happy yesterday. Went to the store missed the call today, got a message. I didn't call back, yet.

Is his journey, but he and Elizabeth took me on on journey. I understood how important it was to actually get out and do something.

America cries change, yet they vote for the media spin, the corporate message. We are a lazy nation, that listens to BS.

I'm sad for my country today. I'm proud, and thankful for what John and Elizabeth gave me -- a message to get off my old-tired ass and do something! The message will live on! May they be well!

Ron, I really think he had to weigh the issue, and it must have been a hard decision. Had he gone on through Super Tuesday, and not taken a number of delegates, he would have lost his voice. By quittinig now, his voice lives. Hell, he got more notice in last nights debate than he was allowed in some of the debates. Both, Clinton, and Obama, seemed to be carrying on a Edwards Love-in!

There is a great article in the NYTimes today by Paul Krugman that reminds us what Edwards did for this campaign:

Speculation is that the party prevailed upon him to stop his campaign. Note that he announced he was "suspending" his campaign - not ENDING it. It may be just a tactical/technical strategy OR John may have a plan to exert whatever leverage he'll have, come the Dem convention. We shall see.
I've already voted for him here in CA (absentee ballot) and I'm gonna write his name in come November if it's not on the GE ballot. I'm old enough and smart enough not to be sucked in by the media's concoction of deception and their own needs. I've stopped paying attention to the talking heads on TV and radio. They only serve to assualt my ears with their master's propoganda.
I may not have the wherewithall personally, to make a gnat's worth of difference in the end, but I REFUSE to prostitute myself for someone else's causes. I'm not of a mind to feed Hillary's ego or help inflate Barack's balloon of hope. Nor am I anxious to have a hand in making history based on gender or race. I have the constitution in one hand and the truth-to-power that Edwards spoke in the other. That's all there is to consider. With those facts in hand, all the other hopes and promises would fall in line by themselves. While things might give the ILLUSION of changing starting on January 20th, 2009 - the basic substance will trudge on unhindered.
