It's about the money

I posted this in another group I belong to and thought it would be good to put it here too.

If everyone here who is upset at the proposed changes wrote to the advertisers who are clearly targeting US-- eons would get the message. We have no power here except in our numbers...think about it folks.
Also google Jeff Taylor to see what other enterprises of his you may not want to support. One woman's opinion...money talks...our protests are just words on the screen.

I'm sure that the other option would have been that we would have to pay to belong to eons. The bottom line is that this was a financial decision.

Having worked for a venture capital funded company, actually two, I know how volatile eons is. Back in October, they laid off a third of their staff. Along with that came funding of $32m.

Venture capitalists invest in companies that they feel have the biggest potential for return on their investment when the company is ready to go public. They can also pull funds and shut down a company very quickly to cut their losses. You may want to read some of the articles out there on the INTERNET to understand the business aspects of their dilemma. I am providing the link to some of them below. The third link lists vital information about the company, including a list of their investors.

What products.......what advertising.......compared to MySpace for instance, there is hardly any advertising at all.

I see several problems here.......

1. The members may not be inclined to buy a lot of anything.....have you bought anything that you saw on Eons
2. Response to member request is slow.....it take forever for Eons to respond
3. The technology is very poor. Other sites are much more high tech
4. The audience here does not build loyalty and stay on for years and years.......it dies.....sorry, but its a fact of life and death
5. Look how many people who are members that haven't been on the site for 6 months
6. They need to infuse revenue into this site or it will die anyways.
7. I think going down to 13 might be a mistake, but certainly they could go after the 40's market and get some buy in.........

JMH marketing opinion.........

Sharkey-it is 40 and up on seniorocity...that I can live with...13 is way too young for me. I spend my days with children by choice. I would like to spend my evenings and weekends with ADULTS also by choice. I joined there this morning.
