Fredericksburg
One of the most beautiful places in Texas is Fredricksburg, in the Hill Country. The main street has shops like I've never seen before: arts and crafts type of merchandise. In April, the bluebonnets cover the landscape like blankets. I went once during the last weekend of the month when they had "Market Days." It was HUGE! Around Easter, they have Easter Lights festival. The story goes that during the pioneer days, the children saw the lights from the fires of of the Indians on the hills. Of course, they were scared. The parents told them that it was the Easter Bunny dying the Easter Eggs. The lights are still lit around Easter.
Admiral Chester Nimitz, the admiral in charge of the Navy during WWII was born in Fredericksburg. There is a large museum in his former house. The country of Japan donated a Japanese garden next to it.
Another neat place is a wildflower farm where you can buy seeds, dried lavender, or eat in the restaurant where the foods are seasoned with the spices grown there.
This might be a great place to visit as a group. It's not that far from San Antonio.
