POEM

This is early I know, but I decided to post it while I was thinking about
it. I wanted to honor my granddaughter, Teelyn, whom I wrote this
poem for many years ago. In a few short months she’ll be 15. How time
flies! She lost her dad in October. Please pray for her!

HER FIRST VALENTINE
By Kat

When I think about it,
it can still make me laugh.
Remembering the day
she was two and a half.
She heard me call her name,
as I opened the door.
Her voice, filled with excitement,
like never before.

My heart swelled up,
bursting love, always the same,
She came bouncing down each step,
as she called my name.
“Gamma, Gamma, Gamma,
I have a surprise!”
Hugging my legs,
she looked up with smiling eyes.

She thrust something into my hand,
“This is for you.”
She looked at me proudly,
love light shining through.
It was a valentine,
with a puppy colored pink,
The scribbles on it
symbolized her name, I think.

Still, hanging on my “frig”,
I see it every day,
It tells its own story
more than these words can say.
We have a mutual admiration society,
My golden-hared, blue eyed,
granddaughter and me!
