Friday edition ROCKY ROAD GAZETTE 08/18/01 0330 EST Mornin' JD Sr.

Good morning all mine! Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home! Get in here, get some coffee, you g&gs know where everything is. Set yourself down and dig in..there's plenty for all..I'll smack your hands and set Broom to watching you..NO feeding the dogs from the table..They are NOT starving no matter how pitiful they look! Watch yourselves with the Lilyputz! She is a con artist supreme and suffers from terminal cute! Look at them lil shoe button eyes and shiny nose..Oops! she's conning the emom..Why me?!?

Wowser, do I have some juicy gossip today. Annie threw a big bash last nite! A sock hop! Well, I got there a little late, Broom had the hiccups on the way. Try that for a real ride sometime! Had to stop several times on the way to the Malt Shop just to let her catch her breath. Did you know it gets really dark outside when the sun sets? Well, when Broom would hiccup, her lights would go out. This does not bode well for the emom who is old, feeble and generally run down! (Would these wide and lovely green eyes lie to you? Oh yeah!)

Anyway, we finally arrived, late and a little more than shaken...Champagne would not have lasted so long!

I'm telling you these eyes have never beheld such a sight in their lives! Party color theme was red, black and white! (my fav colors, except for the rest of the spectrum). Streamers all over, confetti from one end of the room to the other, balloons floating near the ceiling and people still dancing up a storm. Jukebox playing all them oldies.

Now for the good stuff. I tried to get to Annie and KK for an interview but they were as slippery as eels. Never did get to ask who won the prizes cause they wouldn't stop dancing long enuf to get off the table to be interviewed.

I looked around for someone else...hmmm! four feet sideways on the floor over there. I lift the table cloth and I find the Napanag lying under there. Blanket askew and snoring up a storm...Him was worn out from tapping time with all four and trying to avoid stepping on people at the same time..for a horse, I think he'd be pretty graceful..but I didn't see any thing but the aftermath! Britgal, our professional work-out trainer was zonked out over by the bandstand recovering from her days on the physical fitness circuit. There were worn out bodies strewn all over the place. After finding Napa under the table I was afraid to look under any more. I certainly wasn't going to look in the window wells!

Now, I know that the above trio are gonna get me for making this up as I went along but I couldn't resist! I guess I'll spend a few days in the 'fall out shelter' (my cave in the mountain side) and hope they don't follow the dogs to my hiding place.

Great party, Annie! Ya done good!

KK, a BIG gotcha coming your way! I called Mars, Inc. yesterday about your creative ways with the M&M's. Yes, I did! I explained, as best I could, what you had been doing and that you needed more items (identifiers) for your portraits! Well, the guy, who was very nice but had no sense of humor, finally understood what I was trying to relay and said he would pass it on to the right department. I had the feeling he had some serious doubts about my sanity! Shucky darns, he didn't want to play!

And a big fandamtastic for the emom! I got a px from Howie. We work for the city up in Ohio. He's a jarhead and one of mine. I've invited him to join Eons! We talked for almost an hour and were still running our mouths when the phone started acting up again. Gots to call repair service again. I learned all the latest gossip about the goings on in the city. A lot of OMG's, you're kidding's, no way's fell out of my mouth. Some of the strangest people ended up in the strangest jobs! Yeah, Howie I'm telling on you and I gotcha! Your first one on Eons!

Well, shoot, I guess that's it for today's news. Nope, one more item...BIG dog will be here Monday, God willing, the creek don't rise and the snow don't fall! Also, found a big white puppy...if guy doesn't pick critter up, it's mine...Oh dear, my cup runneth! Oh well, what's one more mouth to feed if it needs a home....I think I am starting to get more than ankle deep in critters!

Later, all my dear hearts. Welcome home, be at ease, you are safe here in my heart and home. Huggies and much love to all of mine where ever you may be. Go in safety. The emom

Saturday edition ROCKY ROAD GAZETTE 08/19/01 0800est Mornin' JD Sr.

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Door's open, come on in, grab some coffee and help selves. Everything's ready and hot so dig in, enjoy, while I sit a spell...

Lilyptz, behave! Just ignore her G&Gs, she's a real pest sometimes. She gets carried away because, in her mind, the emom has brought her some two legged people 'toys' to play with! Uh uh! No feeding from the table either! She's already spoiled rotten.

I've had a few people ask me about WHVV and why I started a 'new' group. Well, actually, this is not a new group. For whatever reason, the original manager was lost to the group. I was granted custody of this small group of vets by Eons. Eons suggested strongly that the name of the group be changed. I did so.

I've pondered and thought about the direction we would be heading here. This group belongs to my G&GS and we will go in the direction you choose. I have watched carefully and I am really pleased with the results of our work. It seems that we are turning into a 'base camp' of sorts and this is great.

This is your place of safety, a place of warmth and caring and love. You are among the many who know, care and can share the experience with you. Be at ease, relax and always remember it's ok to be human.

Let's see here, I missed a few gossipy items yesterday...have no memory any more and I can't seem to read my own notes. One says 'trip horse in mushroom...? .. Pondered on that for a while and decided it was a note for a new painting. Some, I never figure out or remember what I had in mind. lol

Oh, back to gossipy items...Napanag, in rebuttal to my hint that he might have been asleep, under a table, snoring, has stated that he, NN, was merely resting his eyes. Yeah right! The boy was sound asleep, worn to a frazzle and sawing logs like crazy!

Oh, I agree that he was checking the back side of his eyelids, looking for the noisy machine (read buzz saw here) that was disturbing his sleep. I could ask about the wilted rose that was between his teeth
and hanging out the side of his mouth...Can you say: Tango? I think there's a gotcha! in there someplace...maybe more than one.

Annie, poor soul, was worn out yesterday. She worked herself to a frazzled heap planning the Sock Hop! Oh, I gots ta tell you that Becky had no idea what a sock hop was...giggle...I had to explain that! The TLC Malt Shop is now officially open for business. Check it out and enjoy the old timey flavor of the music and food.

Before I forget again, I want to remind everybody to post new photos to the photo section on the front page of the group. And you might want to type in a small description of the subject matter.

Oh gee, I still have a bad case of the sleepies.. Meems going back to bed for a while.

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. The emom is here to give warm hugs, a shoulder to lean on and a caring heart to listen. We cannot change the past but maybe, the future can become a little better a day at a time. I love you and care so very much...the emom

Sunday edition Oh my goodness! Look at this! A special place for the RRG! Thank you all my friends and companions...you too, NN...gotcha!

08/20/01 1058 EST Mornin' JD Sr.

Yeah, I know, I'm running late. Thanks gals&guys for making the coffee and biscuits this morning. There's fresh fruit over there in the fridge. Help selves...Ah, thank you, coffee smells wonderful. Did you all freeze your asparagus's off...or is it asparagi, or asparaguses or...hmmm! Well, you know what I mean...It is awful cold out there, 10° but no wind and the sun is shining! Wowser, gonna be a pretty day!

I have a dial tone and no buzz on the phone so far. Keep my fingers crossed. The chicky ducks are complaining mightily; they don't like the cold. the pond is frozen solid and i have icicles hanging on the little waterfall. I really do think that means it's cold out there...the other big clue that it's cold is the cover diving championship. Dogs out, Dogs in and headin for the beddin'! Some where under that pile of covers are three small dogs and one Spudley!
Big red is on the floor on top of a blanket she arranges to suit herself. I told you about the tug of war we had over the blankets the other day. Well, she still tries to sneak them off the bed during the nite. When my feet get cold, I automatically reach down and drag the cover off the floor and out from under Big red... and people ask me if I get any exercise. Sheesh! I should be so lucky! lolol

The following is an excerpt from a message I received from a friend. I had to share it with all mine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Unless you have loved an animal, part of your soul remains unawakened. He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dogs tags.
You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you. He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls. He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
You complain about how hot it is. He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong. He doesn't get to eat today.
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday. He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
You roll your eyes as a baby cries. He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything. He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him. He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
You see only what the media wants you to see. He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't. He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.
You stay at home and watch TV. He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable. He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.
REMEMBER our Troops, and do not forget THEM!
Lest we forget -..." author unknown
I will never forget mine!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, I am running out of room again before I run out of words!

Welcome home all my dear hearts, welcome home. the emom loves you and cares so very much...Be at ease, huggies and love to you all. Go in safety, the emom

A HEADS UP, PLEASE

Today's news has a very serious tone. Any moderator or Manager who wishes to remove this post from their group today, please feel free to do so and no hard feelings on my part.

On Christmas Eve, I realized my oldest and much beloved son was dying. I think I went a little crazy for a while...I am still grieving for my future loss.

During this period of time, a small disagreement and then a misunderstanding with a dear friend blossomed into a full out war. I was very hurt and very angry. I lashed out in pain and anger and hurt the very ones dearest to me. I am so sorry and hope I will be forgiven by all concerned.

And for one of mine...Welcome home dear heart... We mourn the passing of Gale DeWayne Haltom USN who served our country in the North Atlantic. Be at ease, dear heart, go in safety and rest in peace.

Welcome home all mine, welcome home..be at ease, go safely, hugs to all of mine...the emom

Sheesh, I shoulda stayed in bed...period! Lilyputz is carrying a vole around in her mouth and wanting in the house! Uh un! No way! Big red is going crazy. There are elec workers up and down the road across from me...there are wires down in the front drive...I hope they're not live... Big red wants the guys to come out of their trucks to play..Guys don't want to play with big red! She's impressive when her hair is all bushed out!

ALLRIGHT!!!! Judy just called from the vet's office.
Gave her directions to get here with new big dog! Him's still woozy she said but she will be on her way shortly. It'll take her an hour or so to get here!

I'm gonna take my red bathrobe out and an old comforter off the bed out on the porch for him. Old worn clothes are the best for breaking in a new dog at a new location. Meems gonna bribe him too! Gots lots of doggy treats and bacon grease! Him name is gonna be Beau! Judy says he weighs 80 lbs. Guess that'll be big enuf...

Back to the electric guys! lolol I used to work with elec up in Ohio...Went out and asked if they wanted some coffee or pepsi...food? Nope...but they did set one guy up! Had me tell him to get off property .lolol Poor guy didn't know what or why, but he backed up in a hurry! I cracked up and so did the gang...shame on us...I guess I stayed out and talked and joked with them for about 15 mins or so...Man! It was cold out there with no coat on!

Annie, honey, come over here for a minute and let me whisper something in your ear! Shoo, you all! this is private...just between me and Annie! Now git!
Annie, let me tell you, them fellers was right purty! I'm sure they was all packin but them wasn't hunters...All ages and 3 of them were down right gorgeous...they beat my firefighter all to heck and gone! Wowser...

Meems gots to get going and rearrange some of the stuff on the back porch before Beau gets here!

Welcome home all mine, huggies from the emom..be at ease, relax and enjoy the hot coffee and the companionship...

Yesterday morning was sort of a bad time for me. But there are blessings to the bad...I received the nicest note from a very sweet lady, Ozarkreader, who said she reads the News everyday. What a priceless moment for me. Thank you dear one for taking the time to let me know. One act of kindness can make the world a different and better place for all.

A while back, I was doing some house cleaning and deleted the names of a couple of inactive members after attempting to contact them. I will NEVER do that again! It dawned on me, a little too late this time, that the inactive may have passed on.The little photo and name might be all the veteran had as a memorial...rest in peace, mine, and go in safety.

You know, I lied yesterday...well, not really..I told everybody that the guys working outside and across the road were from the elec company and they weren't. They were from the telephone company! One man stayed til way after dark splicing a fiber optic cable...then left. but I wanted to tell you that I saw my flyguys playing tictactoe again...and playing tag among the few clouds. My soul is up there with them...Peeking over their shoulders and laffing..all the while they were getting in their air time. "touching the face of God".

Oh, this is a pat on the back for the emom sort of. You all know I was an emergency dispatcher, still am in my heart. Well, I've started a small group for dispatchers. If you all know of any eons members who were or are still dispatching have them look me up please..Believe it or not, we suffer from PTSD too.

Garyjames has a beautiful photo featured on the Home page today. Well done, Gary.

KK has done an outstanding job on TLS of doing a Gotcha on Napanag! lolol NN should have known better and he was warned but he had to tempt the fates and play anyway! Gotcha again NN! lolol You'se is outnumbered!

My big beautiful dog is wide awake this morning and eating me out of house and home already...Him do like the treat with bacon grease on it. You're gonna love this! He got off the back porch last nite. When I opened the side door to let the other critters out, there he was! Oh dear! The inside crew went flying out the door..chasing poor feller!

I ran and grabbed pistol...ran out the door after them...nite shirt type gown...hair standing up all over my head...(no teeth)..bare foot..ran down ramp...dogs not in sight! I fired a round from the 22 and all of a sudden I was surrounded by the inside crew...then here comes new boy...I fend off the gang and get newbie up the back steps. Have to move big cupboard out of the way so newbie can get onto porch and safety...Had to fire another round to get Spudley's attention away from newbie. Gosh I hope I didn't hit the well pump with that round... How far do you suppose a 22 round loaded with birdshot travels? Ya know, I think I will call him Newbie instead of Beau...Yup, Newbie sounds good to me! Maybe I'll reconsider checking into the new 7 week old puppy...hmmm! Never know tho.

Help selves to more coffee and fill up your thermos. It's raining out there now...Stay warm and dry, mine.

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home...the door is always open and so are my arms to give you warm hugs..My love to you and yours...the emom

FROM NANCYJ40, MY FRIEND OF 26 YEARS THE FOLLOWING:

You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.

It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all...

And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams... But, here it is..the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my babies go? And where did my youth go?

I remember well.. seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like... But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting gray...they move slower and I see an older person now. Lots are in better shape than me... but, I see the great change... Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant... but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore...it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will..I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!!

But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over...its over....Yes , I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done ,,,,,things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime....

So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!!

Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not!

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for good today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!

'Life is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after.

Make it a fantastic one.'

LIVE IT WELL!!----ENJOY TODAY!!!!-----DO SOMETHING FUN!!!----BE HAPPY!!!----BE THANKFUL!!!!!

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. I'm glad you all came in and helped yourselves this morning and let me sleep...Oh thank you for the coffee, just toast please. Let me get myself together here and I'll finish telling you about the first twenty-four with the Newbie and my lack of sleep.

Well, I finally had to move the big storage shed thingy away from the top of the steps...told you about that. I fed everybody to the gills...bellies full and all seemed content. I am ready to crawl into bed when Newbie starts to howl...Poor feller, I really understood his loneliness and being in a strange place; I felt bad for him. Then the rest of the crew, inside, started to howl and bark along with him. Do you have any idea how loud and deafening the howls and barks of 5 dogs of various sizes can be? Trust me, it boggles the mind! and the brain, and the liver and and and...Everybody finally settled down. I crawled under the covers and then got the giggles. I finally drifted off but I was grinning as I went!

Yesterday went well with Newbie...other that a few growls there were no battles...I make sure that I feed the two males separately and I put any outside food up on the table...nothing to fight over. Spudley still rumbles a little but he's established the pecking order and Newbie goes along with it! I think we are gonna make it. I plan on taking some photos when the sun is out and Newbie is more comfortable with his new place. He is such a beautiful color almost a peachy gold. pink gold? No, a warm and lovely gold...Big brown eyes, curly tail...and Oh my goodness the hair! Except for the tail, he very much resembles a small golden bear! and lordy can he eat!

The telephone guys went up the road yesterday stringing new cable...Wonder if that coating will freeze and crack in the cold winds we have up here on the mountain side? Gonna be interesting to see. If so, I better get the ham unit charged and ready! lolol

Be sure and read DispatchDebbie's post in VNV and WHVV about "the politics of blaming veterans of PSTD". It is well done and I think, very helpful to all vets.

Oh, I apologize for the long posts on some of the groups yesterday. I get lost sometimes when I am copying and pasting things..and forget just where I am.. organization is not one of my strong points...I just wanted to share the funny/serious remarks from the "Military Handbook". Some of the rules are serious words to live by and I am taking them to heart!

I guess that's it for now...I have probably forgotten a dozen things...usually do!

Welcome home all mine, welcome home. Be at ease, rest a while, you are safe here with me...love to all of mine and their loved ones...the emom
