Very Old Pictures

In another post we have discussed the challenge of posting very old photos. Since judging would be almost impossible, how about we just post them for pleasure.

So get out the old albums and scanners and let's go back a few years and have some fun.

I will begin with a picture made probably around 1920 of four sisters in my family. Please tell us a little about each photo to make it more interesting.

Here is a picture of my mother and three of her sisters. The family consisted of six boys and six girls who lived to be in their 80's and 90's. Three daughters died in infancy and one at the age of 15. The parents also enjoyed a long life.

My mother is the beauty on the right. Chores were divided up and my mother was the seamstress. Please note the buttoned up shoes.

I love that photo!! Ladies really knew how to dress and act as ladies back then, didn't they? Beautiful ladies and beautiful time.

here's my contribution for now...this is a picture of my 'mother' and her uncle ( I think)...I'm not sure of the date of the picture...must be around 1922 or so. If anyone knows cars you could tell by that as I'm sure it's a new one...I really like the old barn.

This is George Heafer, and I believe he would be my grandmother's uncle. On the back of the photo it says the photo was taken by Wybrant on West Market St., Louisville, KY. The portrait is on very thick postcard-like stock. No idea of the date, but I'd guess circa 1900 or so.

Fleming Family

This is a picture of my maternal grandmother's family. She is second from left. She was born around 1895, and I suspect she is about 16. My maternal great-grandparents are in front.
