tv volume jumps at commercials

yet another complaint re TV---
I know i must have a love/hate relationship with my dvr too!
ok
heres what pisses me off--
I am watching tv--the volume is at perfect level--I get up to get a snack or whatever--
and all of a sudden--its as if an intruder or an alien being lives inside the tv--------
the volume goes up several notches--to a bellow--and why am I surprised----ITS A COMMERCIAL!!
I thought that was against FCC regulations--for sponsers to have their ads at a higher volume than the show that is being presented--apparently not--
(did i make that up--or did i hear it somewhere?)
anyone else notice this--and
does it drive u nuts too???

This drives me CRAZY! I thought it was against FCC rules, too. I'm going to have to research that.

YES it drives me crazy!!!!!!!!! I don't think anyone paid attention to any regulation and the guy I especially can't stand is that guy......crap I can't remember his name but he's always yelling about the product and how it wipes up spills better than anything or it hangs heavy things on the wall or whatever. Can't stand him!

I have decided to write down the TV show, channel, date, time and the specific commercial that blasts me out of my chair. I plan to forward this info on to the FCC in hopes that if other folks also do this maybe they will do something about this issue. I am not much of a TV watcher except for a couple of shows but my husband has the TV on quite often. If he has the volume set at 27, he has to turn it down to 20 when this happens, it's either that or hit the mute button.

Yes! It is so annoying. It is like they want to make sure you here their ad.
I am constantly turning the volume up and down. Steven just mutes all commercials.

Totally agree it drives me nuts. The worst for me is Vonnage and Oxi-Clean.

Several years ago, (I have a bad case of CRS), I remember reading that commercials cannot be any louder than the loudest part of the show. I guess that means if there is a shout, gunshot, scream or whatever for a couple of seconds that is louder than the normal dialog, the advertisers feel that they can use that volume to make their ads. That's why I record everything and skip those annoying ones. Some of them just make me cringe!!!
