Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!

Come on back here to the apartment… Flop on the bed if you want and grab a cover… coffee is hot in the kitchen and it is toasty warm back here… guess all the electricals running keeps it warmer. And trust me, it is cold out there this morning.

Was 38 degrees when I got up and the frost was thick and heavy. It WAS bright and sunny but now the clouds have covered most of the sky. The wind is blowing and the trees are dancing… all dressed in their fancy ball finery. The far mountain is a quilt of all the fall colors. Just a peek out the east window carries me into a fairy land of ambers and golds and rubies and garnets and even a few amethysts. The shadows are the deepest blues and purples I have ever seen.

Go to the above link and just watch for a while… The Boss Man has set up a live feed from somewhere in Southwestern Pa. Live feed is sort of a pun too… I have been watching this since late last evening. Go check it out. It is a feeding station for the wild critters. I have seen raccoons…doves…squirrels…Blue Jays…a robin… chipmunks…a little thing that looks like a mouse…and members of the chubby cheeks brigade, ground hogs! You can hear the birds and their calls. I’ve even heard some of my flyguys go over. Peaceful and relaxing but still sometimes funny. Lolol I crack up at the antics of the chipmunks and the squirrels…and I just heard somebody sneeze…lololol

If the link doesn’t come through, go to Blooming Boomer and scroll down…I think I will be on the front page for quite a while.

I am out of bread! OH NO! and I think I will get a very fattening pizza while I am at the two pumper. Lolol

Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to appreciate the roof over your head. You could get might hot or cold without it.

2009-10-24 1500 hrs…WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME!

Come on in and make yourselves to home… coffee is hot…

Ah yes, living in the mountains is a wondrous things most of the time… or not! Tick season appears to be over… We’ve had two hard freezes and the lil chiggers are asleep for the winter. Now we have the imported “lady” bug season!

Trust me, they are not the real lady bugs nor are they ladies! They, the bugs, show up the last week of October usually…They were a little early this year. Swarms of them out back. The only good thing I’ve seen with them lil critters is I am not allergic to them.

They DO bite/pinch… they smell really bad, they leave a yellow smelly stain where ever they land…and they are heading north… rapidly. They have no natural enemies that I know of… Chickens, lizards and even turn their noses at them… I’m not sure about the spiders…

And yes, I let the spiders alone… they serve the purpose in nature…keep other multilegged critters under control. Well, I must admit I check to see what variety I have in here… Black Widows go out the door to be released.

Anyway, back to the imports… they get under your clothes.. in your hair, your ears, your shoes if you get out in the sunny side of the house… Sheesh!

The other morning, I was out on the back porch, leaning on the rail. Just lookin’ at the colors in the trees… Changing mostly to golds now…Beautiful and peaceful and oh so quiet. A wasp landed on my thumb.

Wowser… this was wonderful! Took a bath while sitting on my thumb and seemed to take particular care of her antennae. She didn’t seem to mind that I watched and talked to her… seemed to enjoy the companionship. She finally got finished and flew away.. a most amazing experience.

I’ve been able to get outside a few times this week… Running between the raindrops and the low flying clouds… Saw some of my flyguys too.. Them BBSBs went over and I got flashed a lot! Them cute lil fellers need to do a better job of focusing their equipment. Or maybe not! I waved and threw kisses and hugs… Did my ‘flash’ dance for them! Lolol and still they fly over the house… gotcha kids! Gots the giggles now…

I gotta tell you that I finally got some iffy measurements on the Newbie! Sort of! Well, almost! Lolol I found my old soft sewing tape measure and decided to check him out! The Newbie had no idea as to what was going on. We ended up waltzing around the kitchen, the hall way and into the apartment! His attitude? What the heck is she doing?!?

So here we go… from nose to base of skull – 17’’ from nose to tip of tail – 76’’…chest – 42’’…height at shoulder – 30’’. Like I said, I’ve ridden ponies smaller than that! Lololol I swear to you, the boy is still growing!

I finished the apple painting and have titled it “ Transition of the Autumn Apple”…

Have been looking for some star stencils. Finally made them myself… did that last nite… got all the stars of various sizes cut out… Used an exacto knife…and a metal ruler… it works!

I used card stock weight paper… printed the assorted sized stars… then used acrylic water based varnish to coat both sides of the paper. Dried them and then cut the stars…

I’ll use the stencils on the Lady II as part of the background shadow… I think…

Talked to Butch’s wife, Dorothy, today… Asked her what she was up to… would you believe :’’holding the couch down’’ lolol We’ve agreed that in this kind of weather ‘couch potatoing’ is the only way to go!

Before I forget, I’m starting to cut down on my group memberships. I hate to say this, but I think the years are starting to catch up with me… Not enuf time in the day to get all the things done I need/want to do. No old person remarks, Marv…

Later all of mine… take care and go in safety always. Remember to take a nap daily… it recharges the motor… lolol

Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems

2009-10-25 1446 hours WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME.

Sheesh, talk about you basic do nothing day. Lolol I’ve been reading some of bigthoughts’ parodies and puns… and then I am also watching live video stream from Nkorho Bush Lodge… Two deer like critters have just come to the water hole for their nite time drink.

If you go to the Blooming Boomers group… you will find the live video stream there. It’s kind of neat to watch the critters… Last nite, I saw a hippo, an elephant’s rump and the business end of a rhino. The artist in me is fascinated by the postures and body positions in the wild.

The Boss must watch it a bit also… He made the remark tho that all he saw was the pond and a candy bar! LOLOL (they do run short commercials)

And then I got this comment from the rotten Little Jake… “I never had an Aphid or weevil bother me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

This was in reference to the bit about the ‘unladylike’ imported beetles who were supposed to control our aphids and/or weevils. I must agree with the LJ…them lil critters never bothered me either… LJ gave me the name of another imported critter…the one that is supposed to remove the weevils but I have forgotten it already…

Would you believe I am having trouble with my fonts right now? Lolol good grief! I guess there’s a first time for everything but I am having a terrible time trying to hang on to my train of thot! Bite your tongue, Marv!

Then, there are some things that never change…KK nailed me on a couple of typos… Marv has been grumping again…Sheesh… I love every minute of it.

I now have spots showing up on this page… Oh dear! Don’t know if they will transfer or not… kind of looks like morse code… (dih dih dah dih dah dah ) What can I say? The aliens are after me… lolol and my puter seems to be having a nervous breakdown… lolol I quit!

Later… take care all of mine… go in safety always.. Remember to take care of the wildlife where you can. They is important to our world.

Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems

2009-10-26 0830 hours WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME

Get your buns in here and warm up! Sheesh, it is COLD out there! All of 30 degrees and yes, the furnace is on. The sun is coming up over the mountain and maybe it’ll be another pretty day. Most of the critters are outside right now except the Newbie.

Goofy dog is in a dancy dancy mood this morning. We’ve already had two sing-songs. Have no idea what this means but I’ve never had any critters do this before.

Of course, there was Smokey, the shepherd, the canary, the parrot and a guitar. Lolol!

I must tell you that many moons ago, I played the guitar and sang. I never did learn to sight read music but I could figure out the chords. I spent many an hour practicing when I was home alone.

Well, I liked the songs Greensleeves, a Taste Of Honey, Come Wander With Me Love (also a Twilight Zone production) and Black Is The Color Of My True Love’s Hair. Old old English and Celtic folk songs are still some of my favorites.

Pedro, the parrot, learned to sing the phrase: A Taste Of Honey….
The canary would always sing the harmony…
Smokey howled and sang to everything! Lolol
Ralph, the Siamese, left home! Lolol He didn’t want any part of this singing business!

Back then, I had to make a choice… paint or play. Both took a great deal of my time and there were dance classes, the ballet.

I decided that painting was the most important to me and kept the other two as hobbies. Then I developed carpel tunnel syndrome long before it became the medical problem of the year. My voice went… never work a high stress job where you use your voice. Singing and high stress are not compatible! Trust me, they are not. So now, I whistle the songs when I am outside playing in the dirt. Works for me anyway and I have no neighbors to complain! Lolol

I also had a sorrel quarter- horse/ thoroughbred mix. I could call “Hi Seets” and here he would come. At his own pace, mind you but in from the fields he would come. Lolol A fellow rider wanted to know how I managed to get Seets to come in on his own. Fellow Rider had to go to the fields to get his horse, Shadow.

Sometimes, Fellow Rider, would lose his temper and throw things (like rocks) at his horse. Shadow would run away. Fellow Rider would get angrier and cuss and throw more rocks…

Now, I knew Shadow wasn’t stupid… neither was Seets.

I’d call Seets in… give him a good brushing (oh, he liked his belly brushed! A lot!) and have a small amount of sweet feed for him. Never had a bit of trouble and Seets would follow me like a puppy.

Fellow Rider said he’d be damned if he would bribe Shadow. The horse would come to him without all the goodies. Shadow never did. Some people, it seems, cannot or will not learn.

Saw some wild turkeys in the field above the house yesterday… Gorgeous day! Saw sundogs and sun columns… My flyguys were up there… Sometimes I could see contrails and sometimes I could only hear them…

I finally remembered to get the camera to take some pix of the sundogs.

I went back and checked for the names of the imported pests that LJ gave me. The unlady-like beetles are Japanese Bean Beetles; they are supposed to eat aphids. It is the African Gnat that dines of weevils. Now see, you learned sumfin new today so it’s not a total loss! Lolol Be advised that both these critters will chomp on the human if given half a chance.

And here is a pic of the Newbie giving directions to Scotty as he bush hogged! The sun was down by this time. The pic is a little dark but you’ll get the idea… lolol

Guess that’s it for now… Take care all of mine… go in safety always. Remember to be kind to one another… If horses can learn, so can the human!

It looks like a good day to take a nap… Chilly, cool, overcast and ready to rain at any moment. Coffee ain’t a helping. Lolol I have wall to wall critters… zonked out and snoring mightily. Lolol Oopsie, make that it is raining.

Is there anywhere that kudzu or its pesky relatives don’t grow? Tripped over the following yesterday…from Virginia: State agriculture officials today announced a quarantine on beach vitex, a woody plant from Asia found growing in Norfolk and recently discovered in the Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach.
The decision means the plant cannot be moved or sold in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Accomack and Northampton counties on the Eastern Shore.
“It’s a step in the right direction,” said Cheryl Petticrew, a Sandbridge resident working to eradicate beach vitex.
Fast-growing beach vitex thrives on sand dunes and crowds out native species. People planted it because it's one of the few green plants that grows at the beach.
The green-leafed woody shrub with small purple flowers and pea-sized seeds has been found in 30 to 40 places in Sandbridge, mostly in the front yards of homes. It’s also found around Norfolk’s Willoughby Spit.
The restriction is considered temporary until the board of the state’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services approves a permanent measure on it at their December meeting, said Del. Barry Knight of Virginia Beach, who pushed for the quarantine.
The action does not address how to get rid of the plant but buys time to come up with a plan, said Lee Rosenberg, Norfolk’s environmental manager who heads a local beach vitex task force.
“If this wasn’t done, we could be going forward with eradication and people could still be buying it and planting it,” he said.

I’ve been playing around with Photo section on my profile page… lolol I have no idea what I am doing but I am trying to set up a separate folder for each painting I do… from start to finish…. Each step… I think I have that part figured out. However, the camera and taking the pix is whole different story. Don’t you just hate it when the camera is smarter than you? Lolol
It’s a neat little cam but I can’t see the scene if I am outside shooting in daylite. I can see everything in the window when I am inside but the colors are too dark or too lite.
The Boss told me one time to use ambient lite inside. I’ve tried it…sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn’t! lolol I love definite maybe’s!
Anyway, I finished My Lady of the Flag II last nite…added darkened stars to the shadow side. Did second step on ML III… and did the rough draft (I do mean rough) for the yellow daisies…
or view view link
and last but not least, I started painting the frame to go with ML II.
Oh dear…I lied! Lolol the frame is for the Apple painting… Am I ‘fused” or what? Lolol Sorry bout that!

Let’s see here… Oh, KK scolded me for neglecting to mention CCC. Well, I must say that Chit Chat Chums has one of the longest running threads I’ve seen in a while…Hmmm… how do I describe it… a game whereby you take the first initial of the last name given and use that letter to start the first name of the next person to be added to the list… Sounds a lot more complicated than it really is…lolol otherwise I couldn’t do it.

There are about 4 or 5 regular contributors to this thread and sometimes the side comments are hilarious. And then sometimes, I just tickled at the idea of some of the names posted… try it… and join in the fun… lolol

Guess that’s it for now… Later all of mine…take care and go in safety always. Remember to do sumfin different and new each day… Keeps ya healthy or can drive ya nutz! Lolol gotcha all again!

2009-11-1/2 1730 hours…Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home…

Don’t know if you want to come in or not… I might still be germy or sumfin. Had your shots? Already had cold or flu? Then come on in..,. grab some coffee or decaf… set a spell in front of the logs… Non smokers over here and smokers over yonder by the vent fan… Leave some room for me by the fan! At this age, you think I’m gonna quit now? I don’t think so! Oh well…

Any way, I made it down to the chicky pen to feed… fed them… put some feed out for the crows…made out the checks for bills… all to the mail box and bout froze my buns off! Sheesh, I am not geared for 40+ degree temps with a steady wind blowing from the North East! Can you say: turning blue but not from the giggles?

view link

Also, while playing with the critters on the drive way, I saw an ALL BLACK wooly worm! On my drive way! Now, this is another first! I’ve never seen a wooly worm in a grassy area before and now one on the gravel drive? Oh dear… Does this mean we are in for a hard winter here or what?

Then, the other day, I was talking about Seets again. Told ya he followed me around like a puppy dog. Never had to tie him to the post unless I wanted to get sumfin done.

One weekend, the Owner of the riding stable and his wife were gone… and, God help us all, left me in charge. Got up early… loaded the beetle with stuff for a cookout. I was all clean neat and tidy… off I went at daybreak… headed for the farm to feed the grandsons breakfast…Pancakes, bacon and eggs… lordy pete, could those kids ever eat.

I mention neat and tidy for reason cause neat and tidy lasted for a VERY short time… The gang didn’t call me ‘Calamity Jane’ for nothing. Sure as shooting, not even 5 steps from the car, I would get into sumfin and end up filthy before I could get to the tack room! Lololol

Just try wearing a fancy western shirt…ruffles and all… white in color… hair neat and tidy too… a least amount of make up… and your horse sneezes on you…! More than once! And then rubs up against you… Hi Mom… I love you Mom… Scratch my belly, Mom! Feed me, Mom… Got any cookies in the car, Mom?

Try dragging a humongous dog type horse out of the window of a VW Beetle. Seets was just making sure he or I hadn’t missed sumfin good to eat! Any or all of the above can ruin a clean outfit in a heartbeat. Especially on a parade day. Remind me to tell you about the parade! This story is a lulu! lolol

The grandsons of the owner were no help either! They would get so tickled and be cracking up while I was fussing with Seets… Seets didn’t like men… and could really bite hard… so they tell me. The guys wouldn’t mess with him unless they had to.

Well, anyway, on this babysitting day, I took a bird feeder kit with me… to keep my hands busy during the slack periods.

Reins were wrapped around the saddle horn… I am at the picnic table under the mulberry tree. Seets is sort of dozing behind me.

I open the kit… and ended up gluing that bird feeder together a half a dozen times. Seets just HAD to check out the feeder! His head comes over my left shoulder… Use right eye to look… right nostril to sniff and blow. (Blowing promptly blew the pieces apart) I put parts back together… then Head over right shoulder… left eye to check item… sniff blow, and there goes the feeder into separate parts again! Hmmm… Critters and some hobbies do NOT mix well… remind me to tell you about the kitty and the crocheting!

Ah, the memories… and the lafter!

Later all of mine… take care and go in safety always… Remember the little things, they add up.

Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter… meems

2009-11-4 1510 hours. Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home…

Much to my enemies displeasure, I think I am gonna live! I think I’ve had the flu or sumfin equally interesting. LOLOL At my age, I can’t tell a whole lot of difference…flat on my back is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Emails… All kinds of problems with my emails. Windows Live decided to take over this puter and all my emails. If you’ve sent any messages and rec’d no response, please resend them. I only have Incredimail now and I have lost some of my emails that were listed in WLive. Will it never cease?

Somewhere in the last few days, I rec’d a request by a lady to locate a veteran for her friend. The Friend and the Vet had almost married back during the Nam War; had finally lost touch with each other. Just letting the lady know I was unable to locate any info… The last name of the Vet is Jones…….

A note to Therman….Thank you for the sweet and kind hearted comments but I absolutely refuse to open a bed & board for aliens. Even if you do buy my mountain and build the structures, I would still need to get off my lazy buns and do some work! Thanx anyway!

HEADS UP! Does any one know where/how to get the MIA?POW bracelets?
I talked to a friend at Ft. Campbell. She puts up with me… God love her and her halo! Anyway she suggested the Military museum gift shop. No luck there either. Gift shop advised me to Google for the info…This I have not done yet.

Two days ago, I rec’d a message from Suzy (of blue wire fame) asking me to contact all of mine. Today, I am mentioning it here in the news. I have all kinds of ideas but I don’t know “how to.”

The ‘Skins’ section needs some military backgrounds from each of our branches of service for the upcoming Veterans Day. Suzy honey if you are reading this, How bout the stars and bars that were hung in the front windows of service members homes during the second world war.

Anyway, if you have any posters, ideas on finding something representing all our different services, send them to Suzy at Eons or contact me and I will try to forward.

Another HEADS UP…I have started a new group for the friends, families, Veterans themselves and any active member of the military services…Army…Navy…Coast Guard… Marines… The group is called ARMED FORCES NEWS & UPDATES.

It is under construction and not quite finished yet but it is at least up and running.

I wanted to call it ADOPT A BASE or something similar… but it would be easier to find with the ARMED FORCES heading.
Please, adopt a base or a branch of the military. Be one of our roving reporters and post all the news that you can. The News goes all over the world now… There are so many of ours who would appreciate the latest from their home bases.

view link Or you can go to my profile page and click on the link to groups there…

NOTE… some things may/might be removed from this posting site (or edited) if the items might be considered a security risk for ours.

Later. Need to go rest…. Take care and go in safety always…Remember to love one another… We are all we have.

2009 NOV 6 0350 hours… Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home.

I know, I know! It’s not even 4:00 am yet and here I am at the puter already! Sheesh!

The following is sad and heartbreaking… read at your own risk.

Something I didn’t mention in yesterday’s news…Jessie’s husband, Gary, was found dead on Monday. I received a call from a friend of theirs asking for verification. I started checking into this sad news and finally was able to verify his death as fact.

Last evening, I received a call from our veterinarian friend, Joey. Would I take or help find homes for the 9 dogs left behind? As much as I would like to take any or all of them, I cannot. Finances will not allow it. However, I CAN try to find homes for as many as I am able.

Gary’s brother, J.T., had called Joey for help. Joey advised I would be receiving a call from J.T….No problem… I got busy on the phone…I found a possible home for one so far.

J.T. called…These dogs have approximately 36 hours to live. J.T. stated he “could not take them home to Chicago on Saturday and would not abandon them here.”

What can I say?

And then there is the Ft. Hood incident.

Be at peace, mine. Rest, tour of duty is over. Go in safety.

My deepest and sincerest sympathy to all. meems

2009-11-7 0428 hours…Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.

Get in here and grab a cuppa sumfin and get warm. Sheesh, it sure is chilly out there AND dark! Do you have any idea of how dark it can get out in the middle of nowhere? In the middle of the nite? Just the critters, the safety light and a little past the full of the moon? Lolol

Oh, but I had a 0100 hours visitor! Viva was throwing a fit…I grabbed the .22 revolver and out I went… I fired a round. A few more barks from Viva and all was finally quiet! It’s funny in one way but an aggravation in another.

Somebody (guess who) was in the lower corner of the lower field with a duck caller. Second time this past week. Mr. A can be a real pain. He seems to get a charge out of pestering the unmarried women of the area in the middle of the nite.

He’s finally learned to quit harassing the married women… their hubbies get just the least mite upset! Can you say: got the stuffing beaten out of him, Mr. A?

Mr. A is a prime example of the saying “the difference between a man and a dog? Once trained, the dog never forgets!” Anna adds “dogs don’t complain” ! Gotcha all you guys! Lololol

Safety first! This old lady will be in the fall out shelter by the time you guys read this!

It just sank in that today is SATURDAY! How did it get to be Saturday already? I missed the reminder to ‘Wear Red tomorrow’ on Thursday. And the Wear Red day on Friday. I apologize… I promise I’ll try to do better in the future.

1454 hours…

Went back to bed for a while…Very little starch left in this body and somebody let the air out of my toes! Don’t worry tho… I’ll be back to normal (whatever that is) very shortly! The worst is over… or not! Lolol I am sort of concerned tho… Little Jake and the Marv are being nice to me!!! Little Jake has reason to be nice! I have give him the ultimate threat! Little bit of dark humor coming up here… be warned.

Ya know how I always how things could get worse… I could be your next door neighbor? I have come up with a “worse”! Oh yeah!

I’ve decided that Broom and me could be buried on one side of LJ when the time comes .. (within hearing distance anyway) and the Red Head would be on the other side, of course!

Just imagine the punishment of being buried between two gabby red headed women … one with a broom! For the rest of eternity! Well, I was a red head a long time ago! Course, mine came out of a bottle but the personality fit! Lolol Gotcha LJ! Again! ROFLMAO! Love you….

I think I feel a lot better… I love picking on mine! Lolol

And then the Marv called me the other nite… just checking to see if I was still around! Oh yeah! This is really a BIG compliment! Like most men… he hates to talk on the phone. He was also hung over! What a party animal! Marv and I swap prices on items all the time…

He lives on the west coast and I am sort of middle America! He was paying $3 for half a gallon of milk… while here, a gallon of milk went for $5. Cereal is outrageous! Rent out there is outrageous too.

I threaten the Marv with moving in next door… Just me, the broom, 7 dogs and one cat. AND a lot of noisy pots and pans. I am getting the giggles! Lolol I will be his semi-automatic alarm clock… especially on the morning after of a nite on the town… Can you imagine trying to sleep off a hang over and waking to an ungodly serenade of crashing, clanging pots and pans… The dogs doing a sing song and the emom yodeling off key! Broom keeping time thumping on the side of the house? Ah yes!

Lordy pete… at 1500 hours today… I had to call Richmond 911…possible emergency! Tell ya all about that tomorrow.. Sheesh!

Later all of mine… need to feed my face… meems is hungry.

Take care and go in safety always… Remember to bring lots of ammo if you move to the mountains and pistol of your choice.

Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems

2009-11-7 CONT. Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.

1922 hours. Yesterday’s news early edition was fairly mild. I’m almost to the point where I could ask the Creator for a few minutes of boredom. I’m afraid to ask for fear boredom would be worse than the chaos that occurs around here almost daily…

I’m back to packing the .38 on my hip again!

I DO believe KK has really gotten the right idea about me.. She calls me MMM. Magnetic Mountain Maven! Emphasis being on the word ‘magnetic’… No, I am not bragging or blowing my own horn! Just a statement of fact!

Remember that I was talking about Mr.A yesterday? Hang on to that thot while you read the rest of today’s news… lololol

Ok… now grab some coffee or tea or what ever you want… sit back and relax and try to follow the following… lololol

I am back here in the apartment working on the news… Spud is sprawled on the bed behind me snoring up a storm of his own.

Then all hell breaks loose… Viva is alarm barking! Spud comes up off the bed and races for the back door. I follow Spud down the hall. He goes out the back door and I head for the side door. NW corner of house is where the doggy alarms are going off.

Viva is looking up the road. I hear a man’s voice…loudly saying ‘help me’ groans follow… I yell…”Do you need help?” Groaning voice answers ‘yes’. I yell I’ll be right back.

I come in house… go to phone.. call Richmond 911. Relay the info I have. Grab pistol and strap it on; grabbed the keys and out the door I go again.

I drive up to the ‘new neighbors’ drive way, pull in and shut off the truck. I am watching the dogs and listening. The dogs go down to the creek and come back up several times. I call and call. No response… I wait.

I watch the dogs… I call out again. Nothing! I wait and listen. I hear nothing. I call out several times. Still nothing.

I am standing in the middle of the road, very slowly turning in circle..listening.

Two rounds are fired behind me…To the northwest of the cemeteries. I yell to fire one round if you need help. Nothing!

Then a single round is fired from Mr. A’s location opposite the second cemetery. Hmmmm…. Then I hear what sounds like Mr. A war whooping and squalling. Well, ratz! Is Mr. A tormenting the lil old lady again?

I climb into the truck and come home. I call Richmond back and give them an update. Trooper will continue this direction anyway.

Half an hour to 45 minutes later, I have a KY trooper passing my driveway. Without my knowing, my address has been changed and now has a letter added to it.

Wonderful! Now there are two 413 Allen roads! On Monday, I’ll need to call the post office and ask Doug what IS my address? Lolol He ought to love this question… I can hear him now… Oh dear!

Trooper returns! Pulls in drive… I ask if he wants me to put pistol away. Tpr shakes head no.. I tell him what I have observed/heard.

Tpr tells me that Mr. A is not the guilty party this time. Mr. A was taken to Lexington hospital late Friday nite after being stabbed! Then who did I hear at his trailer…who fired the rounds… who did the crazy sounds and war whooping? Sheesh!

Tpr says he will check at Mr. A’s and then leaves… heads up the road to check things out. A neighbor, Clayton has followed the Trooper here.

Clayton, who lives a mile down stream, had a meeting with a hunter out behind his place earlier. Guy was in camo’s, wearing hunting orange cap and vest. Carrying a 30-30 or a 30-06 with heavy duty scope. Hunter says he is hunting rabbits (?) and had shot a deer. It was the deer that Clayton had heard… A deer which was moaning and groaning (?) sounding like a wounded man… Deer don’t moan and groan when dying. I double checked with Anna and a couple of local hunters.

However, an injured/dying bear does make those sounds. That’s all I need… a wounded bear in the neighborhood. Any wounded animal is a danger but a wounded and angry bear is the worst. I heard a man’s voice though and I understood what he was saying.

No, there was no search for a possible victim.

I sat down finally on the front porch with the dogs. Just me and the dogs.. I think. Tomorrow, I will sit out front again and watch for circling buzzards. Yes, they do circle and yes, they do roost down wind from the holler.

I did see some of my flyguys today. Oh my, did I get flashed! I cracked up.. God love ‘em they make my days go better. Oh yeah!

I think I am worn out… Later all of mine… take care and go in safety always. Remember to keep an eye and ear out for the injured critter! Safety first!

Many hugs and much love… lots of lafter… meems
