Undesirable groups of people

I hesitated to post this here, then realized that this type of group (no good, dope smoking, dirty hippies) is probably in the government's top 10 "hit" list. So, here goes .. for anyone afraid of government censorship of any kind.

The past few days I have been totally immersed in researching book banning in current times as well as history.
The idea scares me ! ! ! Banning books! Burning Books!
In my blog and in a few groups I have posted 2 news articles about religious books being banned in prisons. Then, a couple of pieces I have put together in response to the replies to those postings.
As a published writer ( newspaper editorials - who has been threatened with physical harm because of my writings) I am very sensitive to censorship and bannings of any kind.
I was amazed at some of the responses from some people, that because the people affected were prisoners, the banning was ok. It wasn't about prisoners people, it was about censorship. Book Bannings! When will they start burning the books. Oh yeah, put all the books about weed on top.
Ok, first prisoners. My question to you is, who or what is the next " undesirable " group to be censored?
Hopefully soon I will be able to write a true life story about an inmate I know, wrongfully convicted. Set free after 10 years. Right now, for his personal safety, I can't. But, I can't wait ! ! !
In today's blog I have links to 4 differant web sites about this issue if anyone is interested.
Blessings .........

And anyone who thinks prisoners should be deprived of whatever should remember that an ENORMOUS number of them are there for using POT! Do you think you should be deprived of your rights because you use?

Thank you very much for your great post to this group.
Wasn't even aware that this was happening, till i saw it in your posting.

Sheesh !!!! Wouldn't it be much easier for them to make a list of banned material
(such as anything that endorses murder/violence), than to make an "acceptable" list, they could issue "Non-Acceptable" Guidelines. Which by the way, the Chaplains already know what is unacceptable.

Typical Government Interference Bullcrap !!!!!!!!!!

High Nanki! I, too, am against censorship of any kind - but I also get tired of hearing that a prisoner has found "God," & thus, is on the road to turning their life around! In the early '70s, we lived in a communal "Jesus" house, where there were all sorts of folks who were there for disparate reasons, including hanging out there where they could get free meals & shelter, so that they could save up to start pimping their old lady! Actually, we were there for only food & shelter, too, & were eventually kicked out because I refused to go live with the women - I was seen as a sinner since I & my old man slept together, but weren't married! My point is, no books should be banned, but I, as a taxpayer, feel providing books for schools is paramount to providing books for prisoners! BTW, wouldn't this message thread be more appropriate in the "Rants & Raves" group? Stay High & Peace!
