Hi

I am not only fairly new to this group, but I am also fairly new canoeing. (only for a couple of years)
We liked to canoe down a blackwater river named the Edisto when we lived in South Carolina, having recently moved to Texas we haven't as yet had an opportunity to find a good river here.
We love to go north to Quetico Provencial Park in Canada for week long canoeing and camping trips in the wilderness. It is so beauticul and peaceful up there.
I hope there will be more activity on this board and we can share our love of canoeing.

Don't know the reason for your black lake but I've canoed on a river in the Adirondack foothills called Black River. It's due to the tannins from the forest that runoff to the river. Other lakes and rivers are nice and clear but you can barely see your hand a foot down in the water in this one.
