I sympathize with you. Sometimes it's hard for people in rural areas to find the teachers or facilities for dancing. I would check the nearest YMCA, high school, college, dance studios, etc. Even if there is a studio that teaches only children, sometimes the teacher will do private lessons. Not to mention Arthur Murray studios. Sometimes local churches have dances you can go to, and you might find someone good enough who would be willing to teach you a few basics. The other thing I can suggest is move to a metropolitan area.
Good luck in your search.
Hi LouisianaWoman,
What kind of dancing do you want to do? I can probably let you know of a few good teachers in those areas if I know what kind of dancing you're interested in.
I started ballroom lessons last year and absolutely love it! Most small towns have a dance studio. Look in the yellow pages or online for one or two near to you. I recommend taking lessons with one instructor for about 3 months and then going with another instructor. Everyone teaches alittle differently. After you get into dance lessons, you'll hear about ballroom functions. They are great fun! Wish you were near Orlando so we could go together.
Hi,
My Husband and I just started dancing about 3 years ago. We found the local YMCA offered dance lessons for a very reasonable cost. The teacher was good and taught us the Fox trot, rhumba, swing and other dances. Try the "Y" and maybe you will be dancing in s short time.
I am near Dallas and I too have signed up for classes. I did dance years ago, but it's been years ago!
PM me if you want to chat about it. We could join together.
