Auger Falls

On this absolutely faultless day, I went up north on Rt. 30 just past Wells NY to Auger Falls - a little gem that you would miss if you didn't know it was there (read: the road in is NOT marked). Only about an hour from me, it is in the lower Adirondacks. The area seems just past peak but still enough color to be interesting. Farther along, the falls take quite a drop and the water is quite dangerous. Here is a fairly serene spot.

Oh, and the trail is quite a challenge, between downed trees and small hemlocks that in spots about obliterate the trail. A good hike for sure.

"The Shack"

It would be very remiss of me not to mention this book. Wolflt52 brought this book to my attention in another group. I ordered it from Crossings and read it in two days.

The "shack" is where a man going thru bitterness and the "Great Sadness" meets and experiences the Trinity in an every day joyous experiences. He realizes how many preconcieved notions he has about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. He reconciles his soul to God and God's Grace.

Aweshome reading.. written by William P. Young and #1 on New York Times best seller list..

What Made Your Family Special?

famiLy new Pictures, Images and Photos

I grew up with a single mom and two female siblings that I now call sisters. One passed away in 2006 and the other is two years younger than me. We fought like cats and dogs, but we knew that we loved each other. My mother cared enough to have high expectation of us. We never got into any legal trouble or caused her much pain.
I recall the special rainy days where we would all climb into bed with my mother and take a nap. We lived in a Duplex on one side on the second floor. We had absolutely nothing, but we seemed to have everything in each other.
I guess that's what made our family special, we knew that we loved each other. We also had a lot of respect for our mother who worked hard to see that we had what we needed. Now of course, that did not include what we "wanted" because we seldom could afford what we "wanted."

Mother was very proud and would not take hand-outs, though she would make a pot of Spaghetti for the neighborhood...

Tell us what made your family special.

My drabble for November

Midnight Terror

Every day he awakes at his usual time. Seven PM, he punches the time clock. Carefully he sharpens his tools. Midnight, the time when all good people lay in their beds sleeping, resting for the next day’s events. The Night Stocker, forever is destined to roam the hallways and walkways of Wal*Mart, armed with only a box cutter and pricing gun. Fifty pound bags of dog food will stop you from getting to the Pampers. Nine foot tall pallets of frozen vegetables in the ever narrowing walkways. Try to face The Night Stocker. If you dare.

Happy Thanksgiving
