More helpful hints.

How many of these did YOU know about?

Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal
for inside windows. This way you can tell which side has the streaks.
Straight vinegar will get outside windows really clean. Don't wash windows
on a sunny day. They will dry too quickly and will probably streak.

Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create a lovely
light scent in each room when the light is turned on.Make sure the light if off and cold when you spray it on.

Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers and your clothes will
smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this with towels
and linen.

Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least 3
hours prior to burning.

To clean artificial flowers, pour some salt into a paper bag and add the
flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt
and leave your artificial flowers looking like new! Works like a charm!

To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet, simply add a drop or
two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, and bring to
a boil on stove top.

Spray your TUPPERWARE with nonstick cooking spray before pouring
in tomato based sauces and there won't be any stains.

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will
keep for weeks.

When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the
corn's natural sweetness

Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half, and rub it on your
forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Don't throw out all that leftover wine: Freeze into ice cubes for future
use in casseroles and sauces ......... Left over wine? What's that? :)

To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area
and you will experience instant relief.

Ants, ants, ants everywhere ... Well, they are said to never cross a chalk
line. So, get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants
tend to march. See for yourself.

Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job and better still,
leaves a lovely smell to the shine.

When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to
tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, and
then pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.

Now look what you can do with Alka Seltzer........
Clean a toilet.
Drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush and flush.
The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous China.

Clean a vase.
To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet, fill with water
and drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets.

Polish jewelry.
Drop two Alka Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and immerse the
jewelry for two minutes.

Clean a thermos bottle.
Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka Seltzer tablets, and let soak
for an hour (or longer, if necessary).

Unclog a drain.
Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer tablets down the
drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes,
and then run the hot water.

If your car battery has a build up of all that white icky-looking crust, take a can of coca-cola, and SLOWLY pour it all over the built up crust. Wait for the foaming action to stop, then hose it off with your garden hose. No scrubbing needed!

You can also use coca-cola on your toilet bowl if you don't have anything else to clean it.

Clean your fine jewelry with toothpaste. It rinses off easier than other paste cleaners.

Pour a pouch of Nutra-Sweet around the hole on an ant hill. The ants will disappear and not come back. The aspartame in the Nutra-Sweet will attack the nervous system of the ants and they will also pass it along to the rest. They soon die off.

Don't have time to wash your oily looking hair? brush in some baking soda, and then quickly brush it out before you style your hair. The soda will absorb the oil. It won't clean your scalp, so you'll still need to wash your hair as soon as possible.

Have a problem with earwigs in your garden? They do eat other insects, but they can also become a pest. Soak a newspaper in water, and roll it loosely. Place it in your garden overnight, the earwigs will hide in it before daylight. Take the rolled paper, and dump it over a bucket of soapy water, to kill the earwigs.

That adhesive residue on the picture frame glass will come off easier with a small dab of auto wax. Label on jars too!

After you thoroughly clean the underside of your lawn mower, spray a heavy coating of PAM cooking spray. The grass and soil won't stick as much the next time you mow.

A very light coating off PAM wiped on the rubber seal of your car doors will help to keep them from freezing shut in icy weather. Don't spray, WIPE!

I DID try the chalk line on an ant trail leading into the house from my front door. It DOES work!

I'm alittle concerned about the nutrasweet with the anthills though...what's the stuff doing to us? Yikes!

The car battery can be done a lot cheaper with just baking soda and a bit of water.

For more on the nutrasweet - please see ISLAND's BLOG. It may hurt the ants, and it may bother some people, but it does not bother all people.

And I'll leave it at that.

Here is one that saved my son's hair.
If the chewing gum on the bedpost ends up in your loved one's hair. Peanut butter is the answer. Rub pb gob into the mess, work through with fingers and keep blotting with paper towel, repeat as needed. Supposedly you can also use "cold cream" old fashion cheap type.
I love these old tricks. Thanks all

I have a poster posted in my custodian's room at work, where everyone can see it. It seems to solve a lot of problems with the people who come to me with their "little problems." It says, " IF IT SHOULD MOVE, AND DOESN'T, USE WD40. IF IT DOES MOVE, AND SHOULDN'T, USE DUCT TAPE."
