Ride in town

I just rode my old Mt. bike, which by the way has excellent road drag and weight. I wanted to see how long it would take me to get to work. The only Obstacle is having to cross over the I-40 interstate. Its a little spooky. It took me 19 minute to get there. One short cut is through the Arkansas Tech Collage campus. Its a pleasant ride thru there. Then after work I headed to Bona Dea Trail system which is just on the other side of a dike that holds back Lake Dardandelle. It is a great place to hike or ride bikes. There is even an aligator in one of the bigger lake-swamp type areas. I belong to www.takahik.com hiking club. Today I met a group that belong to www.dmhikers.net. We had a nice talk. By now I knew I best start heading back cause I have to go back over the interstate. I made it, safe and sound. Have a nice day...

Hi Cosmicdude,
I've done a few rides where I've had to cross over freeway overpasses. It is nervewracking. I never cross over an overpass unless there is a bike lane no matter how small! I also ride like the wind when I have to ride near freeway on and off ramps although 16-18 mph on my little carbon bike is nothing compared to 65 mph on a Humvee...
Riding on,

I heard that. There is a side walk down both sides as it is a new bridge. But your riding higher then the road so your thinking, one bump and I'm over the edge. If there is a break in the storm clouds I'll be going back to Bona dea trails. Have a good day...

Its the height of overpass railings that bug me. The railing heights seem to be designed for pedestrians, not bikers. With a 24" bike frame and a 6'4" body frame, I cross the overpass trying to avoid doing a lot of traffic watching. :-)
