Why This Group Was Created

The reason for creating this group needs a little more explanation. Like many people I have always loved mountains, particularly the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There I can find a sense of peace and communion with nature. So I thought I would start a group with people who feel the same way. I would like members to post their thoughts on mountains they have visited and favorite spots in those mountains, whether by a waterfall, creek, in a forest, or on a mountain peak. Any mountain inspired stories or poetry can also be posted, whether original or by a favorite author. Join and share your thoughts and feelings about the beauty and peace of mountains.

Your reason for starting this group is perfect. It is exactly the same reason I joined this group.
I grew up in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, living in both Denver and Colorado Springs. Our weekend drives were always to somewhere in the mountains, and I still remember the icy cold water of the many mountain streams, the thrill of fishing in the streams and lakes, and the feeling of being in communion with God as I, even as a young child, took the time to look at, feel, and wonder at the awesomeness of these beautiful places.
As an adult, I wanted to do nothing more than to end my years living in the mountains. But I was blessed: I didn't have to retire and then move to the mountains, instead, I did get the career job of my dreams and it was located in the mountains. So, I got to have the joy of living in the mountains while still in my career, and now, as I go around the country speaking on leadership and change theory, I still marvel at the beautiful place in the mountains I still call home and thank God every day for the opportunity to live in such a wonderful setting.
I enjoy being in this group with so many others who share this same interest.
