9-11
I was driving to the dentist when I heard on NPR that an airplane had crashed into one of the Twin Towers. In my mind I saw a small Cesna loosing its way and crashing into the tower. About 30-minutes into the teeth cleaning, someone had the television on and suddently it became extremely clear this was no accident.
I went to work, heard that all planes were grounded, and called my husband who was in Indiana for a conference. They had not heard about the towers but when they did, the cancelled the conference. It took my husband five days to get home from Indiana. Air flights were cancelled, rental cars were gone. He finally took a bus for 24 hours and came home.
During that time, I worked, took care of our 9-year old son, and tried to keep a quiet face at home.
