Sun Crystals

There is a new product on the market. It is called Sun Crystals. Maybe it isn't new but it is new to me since I've never seen it before. LOL

It is a sweetner with only four calories. The advertiseing claims it is made with all natural sweetners including raw cane sugar but at only four calories per serving. You can get more information and a free sample by going to www.suncrystals.com.

Does anyone here know if this is a good product for a diabetic to use? Is this a good weight loss product?

The photo with the advertisement shows strawberries dipped in it and a little girl drinking lemonade. The sweetner is in crystal form.

Any comments?

I went to their website and it cost twenty-five dollars for a box of 250 packets. That is a bit expensive. Splenda is a far better deal then that. Splenda is 0 calories and Sun crystals is four, plus they charge that much. Whew!

I looked at the website. It looks like a good product, albeit an expensive one. It may be way more expensive than stevia or xylitol but, it is definitely a lot safer and healthier than Splenda (sucralose).
Splenda is chlorinated sucrose. Those chlorine atoms have been documented to shake loose in peoples' bodies and cause illness. There have been no studies to show the long term effects of this product yet so maybe the jury is still out. My philosphy is that if man is trying to improve on nature, be very wary and do your homework.

My local grocery stores carry raw sugar cane juice which has been dried and can be used as a sweetener.
There are a lot of other substances to use for sweetening food as well. Try honey, molasses, maple syrup, turbinado sugar, raw sugar, date sugar, cane juice, stevia, xylitol, fruit juice, and I know there are lots more.

You are just a wealth of good information, littleaj, I don't know what we would do without you. Thank you for sharing that. As an insulin dependant diabetic I fear using the honey but would the raw sugar be okay? I've been using splenda because I heard negative things about equal. I don't sweeten coffee or my cereal but I do use a sweetner occationally. I like to use it in tea.
