I began my P.C. service at the age of 53 as a Sustainable Economic Development Volunteer and served for three years--I extended for an additional year because I loved my work. I now live in Orange County, Calif. and am active in the O.C. Peace Corps Association. I have been back to Kyrgyzstan once and brought my friend, Aigul, to California in the summer of 2006. I am a staff member at Chapman University, and I often contemplate serving again--perhaps after I retire.

How good it is to read your write up. I'm 54, retired w/no children. I have been thinking about joining the Peace Corps and was looking to find out about the average age and wondering about working accomadations. I don't want to live in housing that has the bathroom with a hole in the floor. I've seen it and was lucky that I didn't have to use it.
