Poll

Eons political survey has released some results. Twice as many members would vote for the democrat for President as the Republican, even though nobody knows who the candidates will be. At the same time, the most trusted news person on TV was Bill O'Reilly. I can only assume the poll was flawed. Perhaps they did not count all the votes from the RED state of Florida.

Just as a guess, I think most members of EONS are either liberal or apolitical.

No science here, just an anecdotal observation. but if true, it would explain the poll results.

O'Reilly always seems fair to me.

BTW, I did not participate in the poll.

That seems to be an ongoing problem for Floridian residents!

Maybe republicans aren't taking the poll.

Did the poll ask what party the respondents were?

Polls are useless. I spent 25 years as a marketing executive and owing my own marketing consultant business and devises and implemented dozens of polls.
First thing I wanted to know from client was what client was looking for? Then I would devise wording so as to meet clients expectations.
I can make a poll, thru wording or selected people polled, indicate any result I want.

I guess the only poll that counts is the one called an election.

The only viable candidate I saw was OTHER!

Good point, lets nominate someone called Other. Betcha Other would win hands down.

To all,

Let me respond to a few of your observations and comments.

I am the primary author of the Eons political survey, and I assure you I have no political axe to grind. The purpose of the survey was / is simply to get a feel for what people over 50 are thinking about the candidates and the issues.

I've summarized some of the findings in a blog: view link

The most interesting fact I found was that 36 percent of respondents said they were Republicans and 38 percent said they were Democrats. Third party members and unenrolled voters made up the difference.

The fact that 64 percent predicted the Democratic candidate will win the election could be explained by adding all of the third-party members and unenrolled voters to the Democrats, leaving all of the Republican (36 percent) predicting their candidate will win. That's unlikely, but I don't have the breakdown of the results by party. I'm told it iis possible to pull those numbers, and if that's the case we will for the next report on survey results later this month.

JeffCon is right that the only poll that counts is the election, but people want to talk about the issues and candidates, and that's what the Eons Campaign Central is all about.

I'm happy to hear your comments and I'll try to answer your questions. For matters of politics, please use this email account.
