Texas Senators Hutchison, Cornyn Request Action From President Obama On Escalating Violence In Mexico

Mar 17 2010

WASHINGTON—In response to the brazen murders of two U.S. citizens affiliated with the American consulate in Ciudad Juarez, U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn today urged President Barack Obama again to take action on the escalating violence along our southern border.

“The spillover violence in Texas is real and it is escalating. Our border patrol agents and local law enforcement are more regularly engaged with gunmen associated with drug cartels, but our resources and personnel are limited…We urge you to deliver a concrete plan to address the increasing violence across the border, and share it with Congress,” wrote Sens. Hutchison and Cornyn. “A credible plan must include immediate measures, including the temporary deployment of additional resources to help local officials better protect their citizens and communities as well as minimize disruptions to travel and trade.”

He's occupied at the moment with bankrupting us with his signature piece of legislature that we can't see yet.

If there is any money left over, it will not be going to deal with any border issues.

I know, Hebe. You're totally on target. It's really sad when ya think about his priorities. What an outright idiot! Washington just refuses to "get it."

In the last week, in addition to the escalating brutal violence, they've also had at least one incident where a Mexican military helicopter entered U.S. airspace over the border and Washington couldn't care less.

I hate to inject any logic or fact here, but should you not be asking Sec. of Homeland Security these questions? After all, isn't that her job?

Hahahaha! You're kidding, right?

Sure it's her job, but she's done such a sterling job so far, it's a given that she is a waste of time. She'd just as soon see the border overrun. And besides, one would assume that if she is doing her job, that she is already very aware of the situation and has obviously done nothing.

As for the letter from my Texas Senators to President Obama, well, I guess they are aware of Neopolitan's ineptness too, so they are appealing to the King of Ineptness instead. I feel certain that they followed protocol, but this is an emergency situation, well, I guess only to those of us who live in border states.

RobtC, the fact is that she is just an appointee who works for him and does what he tells her to do. He sets the policy; not her. The buck stops at the White House. Yes, Barack Obama is ultimately responsible. He can't blame anyone else now.

The southern border has been on fire for a long time, it's just flaring up more now. This is what you get when you have an open border policy for years. It just isn't PC to criticize Mexico. It's ok to bash Canada, a nation with a similar economy and legal system to ours, but don't bash Mexico, where the government has ignored crime and accepted corruption for a long time. Now they want to blame us for their corruption. Sure.

With Obama he will not send tanks, he will send thanks for showing us what a bad country we are along with his apologies and a bow.

xbor, yes, as a matter of fact that really would be welcome. And then a lot of enforcement of the laws we have on the book. And.....wait a minute. Do you really mean to imply that the Mexican Drug and Economic War that is spilling over the border is NOT worth defending our country over????? Are you serious???? What is up with that? I guess that the only part of the U.S. that matters to you is the precious East Coast, huh?
