Good news Bad news ,Update

Well the good news is the "tumor" is gone. My Pet Scan shows no more mass but the bad news is there is still cancer cell "activity" a few buggers that refuse to die! So I must continue in the same routine of Taxol and Avastine probably for a minimum of another 6 months. Thing is I was just wondering if befor there was such a thing as a PET scan how did they know if a person was "in remission". They say there is no "cure" but if it were not for the modern technology of the PET scan they would not have been able to detect these cells just floating around in there. Now I just hope they at least stay contained in the chest area and don't go floating off into some other part of my body.

I know you had hoped to hear you can stop your treatment, but keep the faith. Six more months and you WILL be cancer free! Picture your body clear and healthy and believe it - can't hurt you to try positive imagery. I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a battle with cancer myself in 2008 and am still standing. You can do this - and we are all with you in this group. I do not post often, but my heart is with you and all who have faced this disease. If they can get rid of a tumor with your current treatment, they most assuredly can get rid of those last few hold out cells - pesky things, but not invincible. WE are the invincibles - remember that!

Before the scans and blood tests and all, we just didn't live as long. So, while you had hoped to be done by now, at least when you *are* done, you'll know that you are truly "clear". God bless.

I think the fact that they have managed to get rid of the tumor is wonderful news, but understand fully being concerned about further complications. That worry is something we all can relate to. You have weathered a tough storm, and have shown great courage in your attitude. I know that sometimes I fall prey to feeling like the glass is half empty rather than half full. The days when we succumb to that fear that this disease will return are hopefully offset by the days when we are thankful to be able to enjoy our lives, and celebrate how much we have been blessed with another day. Thank you for your post

Thank you for your post. I am so happy the tumor is gone. The rest of the news wasn't fun for you to hear but, you will work through it. We all are here to help you.
