Having them over for a meal- yes. An afternoon- rarely. A weekend- even more rarely. A couple of weeks?!? No.
Yes, I love to have guests, but not uninvited or unannounced. I can stretch to a week maybe, if it is family, but then I begin to yearn for my privacy once more. The same goes for being a guest. It's great for a short spell, especially if I get to see the grandkids, but I actually can't wait to get back to my own familiar surroundings and routine.
I love having guest for a meal or afternoon or even a weekend. Now, of course, I like it when Farrell stays two weeks at a time but overall that is a tad to long for most people.
I let my cousin stay a month a few years ago and when she left, I swore never again. It is to long and you begin to get on each other's nerves. Because after awhile, you don't feel like they are guest anymore and should help a little.
Being a guest? I don't know most of traveling involves hotels. I haven't really stayed at anyone's actual house since staying with Stacy when she was sick and drowning in work. And that's has been over three years ago.
I like to be a guest at the Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, etc. They don't expect me to pitch in and clean or cook.
oops. I forgot to answer the other part of the question.
I like being a guest for a meal and conversation afterwards. If I'm visiting a nearby area for a weekend I'll stay at a hotel. If I'm visiting for a couple of weeks I take my travel trailer with me and stay in my own little home.
I prefer being the guest. My house isn't very comfortable for extra people, not enough room or beds.
I also am a horrible cook and am clueless in feeding others except for kids, got that down.
Depends on the friend. I have stayed with friends who live in France, and I have a friend who is moving to Belgium (today). She has invited me over and is looking forward to having guests in their new home. Everything is very close and we are looking forward to day trips to Bruge, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Paris (gotta love the TGV), and since it will be new for her as well, it is something for her to do when her husband is at work. Of course, I will do some things on my own while I'm there, but I think she is looking forward to having someone to explore museums with. I have to wait until May because it will take two months for their furniture to arrive.
On a side note, she is a newlywed. After 8 years, it took being referred to as "PM and concubine" on the paperwork to finally get them to tie the knot. Just a civil ceremony for now, the real wedding will be a family affair on St. Thomas.
I don't mind family or close friends uninvited drop by. Summer visits drop by are always welcome. on the other hand, I will always call before I drop by anyone homes. Children might be busy, friends needs a call before I drop by. Normally I call if in their area from cell phone.
Long distance make it short, I will make my visit short as well even in homes or hotel long distance. three to four days are enough visitations for me. Need to get back to my way of life.
Love to travel. but short visits or nice.
Love to entertain and have people over for the day but not set up for overnight guests. Will ALWAYS opt for a hotel when I go somewhere for a visit - I like all of us to have a degree of privacy and some down time.
no - no - no - I hate to put people out even thought im invited to stay, I really dont like to entertain...im tired when I get home from work and just want to veg and weekends are for making up for time I have to do things, and usually if invited to dinner - we all go out to eat... easier for everyone...
Love to entertain whenever we can...this weekend ..the Oscar night extravaganza....friends, family great food and awesome desserts ( maybe even an Oscar for the person who comes closest to picking the winner) Life is too short not to enjoy time with family and friends!!!
