Winter Storms to Distort US Jobless Figures

OMG! Does the Obama Administration REALLY believe that thinking Americans are going to swallow this lame excuse?

WASHINGTON, March 1 (Reuters) - White House economic adviser Larry Summers said on Monday winter blizzards were likely to distort U.S. February jobless figures, which are due to be released on Friday.

"The blizzards that affected much of the country during the last month are likely to distort the statistics. So it's going to be very important ... to look past whatever the next figures are to gauge the underlying trends," Summers said in an interview with CNBC, according to a transcript.

Construction activity was hit particularly hard by the storms, but many restaurants and stores also had to close, putting the brakes on hiring plans and temporarily throwing some employees out of work.......

If workers did not work during the snow storms, they don't get counted as unemployed. What nonsense!!

And it restaurants were planning to hire before the snow storm, the numbers should look really good after the snowstorm. Right?

Or is this a snow job from the Obama administration??

Yeah. Something just like that, Hebe.

And besides, I think the report is supposed to cover more than just the DC area and it's big snow. The entire country did not have snowstorms of those proportions. But then, maybe he doesn't realize that.

Having lived in DC for a number of years, I saw the entire go into shutdown mode. The southeast has had its share of winter weather including snow never imagined their wildest dreams. Having family in SC, it was interesting to talk about the snow and the unseasonably cold weather which dramatically reduced the golfing traffic at Myrtle Beach and environs. I expect there is some truth to what Summers is saying. Cold snowed in people don't eat out and go shopping.

But as Hebe pointed out, people don't get laid off for just a couple of days - just to sign up for unemployment takes a period of time and that doesn't happen just because of a snow storm - in fact, some people find work removing snow for temporary jobs during storms. Yes the is a drop in sales during a storm, but it isn't "unemployment" it is days off, for some, with pay, for others without pay.

There will always be an excuse, there will always be a reason. There will always be a "yah - but", followed by the "it's not my fault".
I keep hearing that pompous remark just before the Inauguration, about after January 20th there would be "grown-ups" in the White House. I raised my son with these phrases almost constantly on my lips
"Buts are for Billy Goats", and "It may not be your fault but it is your responsibility".
I am so very tired of this Administration, not only do we have children in the EOB, we have brats who won't listen.

Why do you find this so hard to believe?

People voted into office a person who said he would be Honest, transparent, clean out the corruption, and he got lots of people to believe it, so why, when coming from the same group, would people not believe it?

The Labor Department wouldn't quantify how the snowstorms that hammered the East Coast last month affected job losses.

WASHINGTON – The unemployment rate held at 9.7 percent in February as employers shed 36,000 jobs, fewer than expected. The figures suggested the job market is slowly healing but that significant hiring has yet to occur.

What a joke. 0bama's disdain for the American people never ceases to amaze me. The 9.7% figure promoted by the 0bamaites it a gross lie, when you add in all the millions of people no longer counted for one excuse or another the real figure is CLOSE TO 18%

The "Liar in Chief" earns his title every day

Ya know, that's exactly what it is, disdain for the American people. He also thinks that we are incredibly stupid to believe something like that. He's such a crybaby. So immature. He's President of the United States and he's blaming....the weather????? Gosh! How can ANYBODY take this guy seriously??? It's embarrassing.
