I donate.... there are so many that do not have anything. Im hang on to towels etc also, I have a hard time tossing stuff out but I finally decided last year - for every one thing I buy I toss one out (donate).... its a good idea.
Pam,
I started yesterday with a closet in the bedroom and just now finished a cabinet and bookcase in the office. I'm not a horder as I used to be, and like you it is hard for me to part with things which may have a use.
I "winter cleaned" and gave a ton of stuff to the Goodwill.
Spring cleaning is year round for me. I give away first, then the rest is put out on the curb with a Free to Whomever sign. It works, there is very little left after a couple of days.
It's year round for me also. I donate most stuff but when it's nice clothing/shoes/bags I take it to the consignment shop to get a little money back from it.
Hey Pam....when you get done will you come to my house please! :-D I need to get at it too. I've started on a small scale, doing a little at a time partly due to procrastination, laziness and feeling overwhelmed if I try to do it any other way. I've always donated but now I'm going to try selling some things on Craig's List as well as giving some items away. I have an off white embroidered suit, classic cut with the tag still on it from years and years ago, I also have some shoes, purses and costume jewelry pieces.
I am starting next week because hopefully by then the weather will be co-operating and I like to hang my bedding and curtains outside to dry before I change them...love that outdoor freshness! I donate, throw out and give to family members but somehow it always seems to pile up again when I autumn clean...go figure!
