tomorrow the Danbury Moose Lodge is doing their annual dip for charity view link they will have to cut a hole through the ice... and I wonder how much alcohol will be consumed beforehand?

I couldn't open anything with that link.....but I can tell you that if it involves getting into ice cold water I have never done it & will never do it!!

When I lived in Russia, we were in Vologda on business and invited to stay at a 500 year old farmhouse. While there, we partook in the sauna, a wood fired incinerator that was capable of cremation if one stayed in there long enough. It was -20 degrees with at least 4 ft of snow on the ground. Part of the ritual involves running naked out of the sauna and rolling in the snow. (This is repeated several times while taking the sauna). At first I refused, then said what the hell, and did it.
An exhilirating experience to say the least. They say there is still a monument to my buttocks in the Vologda snow. I can tell you there are crevices in the body that feel the cold more so than the parts that have been exposed to the searing heat. whooo hoooo!
