Need Help Explaining Internet Explorer!

I've been trying to help explain by PM how to open an HTML file with Internet Explorer that is on a person's personal computer.

Problem is - I use Mac's and don't use Internet Explorer. I've used this site view link" rel="nofollow">view link to try to explain what the person should be seeing at the top menu.

In my last PM to the person, I asked him to tell me what they saw at the top of their computer screen while they were on Eons reading my PM. Evidently, the person is not seeing anything like the toolbar pictured on that tutorial site. view link" rel="nofollow">view link

He sent a description of what he sees when he is on Eons. I've included that in a reply. I'm hoping that some of you who use IE (or have used IE) might recognize what he is seeing and might be able to explain how to get the toolbar to appear.

Course, if you know a different way of viewing an HTML page stored on a Windows computer with IE, please feel free to post the steps. Thanks!

Here's what the person sees at the top of the computer screen when they are on Eons:

- - - - - - -
at the extreme far left of the top of the page, appears, a miniature internet explorer icon--"private message - send --- eons.com - windows internet explorer and at the extreme right end are the plus and minus boxes

the next line shows left, right buttons, an elongated field box and fast browser search box

the next three rows are individula tool bars for windows, norton and yahoo, in that order. nowhere on this page is there a file box. at some, time in the past, I recall seeing a file box at the top of the page on the left side. I seem to have lost that. how do I get it back?

Mimi, have him right click somewhere on that second line. He'll get a drop down menu and from that menu make sure there's a check mark next to the line that says MENU BAR. If there's no check mark have him left click on that and then that bar should be seen. From there have him follow your other directions. He can also use his WINDOWS EXPLORER ( file manager ) and go to the folder where he has that page stored and simply double click on the HTML file he wants to open.

Hope that helps.

Still no toolbar. Seemed like a good idea, KD, but when he clicked on the second line, he says he gets this:

when I right click the secod line, the box that comes up is as follows:
undo
cut
Copy
paste
delete
select all
right to left reading order
show unicode control character
insert " " "
open IME
RECONVERSION

I haven't heard back if he's able to click on the file and get it to open in a browser.

Any other ideas, any and all?

To help with Internet Explorer I need to know what version is being used. Also Microsoft have recommended that people stop using IE6 & IE7 because of security problems.

I would recommend switching to Firefox because IE8 isn't supported by Eons.

another way is to click on tools, then in the drop down menu click on toolbar, then check menu bar thta should bring it up.
