Hello

I lost my wife about two years ago after 42 years of marriage. I have been a member of several on line bereavement groups and now believe it is time to move on. Life has completely changed for me, but I am doing my best to cope and survive. At this point in time I find it difficult to function alone and I guess that loneliness plays a large factor. I am, however, optimistic in the belief that things have to get better. Thanks for listening.

Hi Marty -

My hubby died 6 years ago and my life completely changed also. I find that reaching out like you are to cope or survive is important. Nothing will be the same again and you have to find yourself again.
Everything I did was for my hubby and supporting his likes and dislikes. Now I had to find what I liked or disliked. What do I want? How can I find peace. I joined a couple of groups which helped. My Red Hat Society is all woman and it helped me to do things socially without feeling alone.

At first I did these things just because I knew it was what I needed to do. But as the years went by, I enjoyed different events and social events and found myself adapting. Senior Centers are fun too.

I still miss the companionship or chatter between husband & wife. I miss having a hand to grab when upset or have bad news. Its hard to face different troubles in life and not have someone to talk them out with or support.

I am sure you will find your way on life's journey but remember you are not alone for lots of people are feeling the same way.

Welcome to the group, Marty.

Time does help in healing and getting accoustomed to being single again.
It is important to reach out to others rather than remain in the status quo.

Yes, may we all move forward after our great losses. My world was turned upside down when I lost my beloved husband nearly 4 years ago. It will never be the same. And if you are like me, I have hybernated all winter long like a bear. It's the colest wweather I have ever experienced in Middle Georgia. God Bless you all. I hope a lovely Spring is on the way for all of us.
