Thailand

I just posted this and got bumped from the internet, so I hope it is not a repeat. I just joined this group and seems like a nice place to gather info.

I retired two years ago and am living have been living in Thailand. As a person who lost a lot in the stock market and do not have a large retirement income, I find Thailand to be a paradise. Warm weather, inexpensive housing, polite people and very relaxed way of life.

Any questions and I will do my best to answer.

How long have you lived in Thailand? Ny brouther -in-law has an Thai wife and they have been contemplating moving back to Thailand for several years. They have planned on living in MyChang area and in fact have bought land in that area. Are you still actively working? They are thinking of running some type of small business.

H Segundo,
I have been living here for about two years now. Right now the only work I could do would be teach English, but my main reason was to retire and that is what I do best!
Chiang Mai is a beautiful location and there is always a need for a good foreign restuarant! For myself, however, I only eat Thai food and have gone from 236 pounds to 158! And that includeess a few beers at times as well!

OK,. nice to chat with you!

I agree with you on the food. I have started eating native Filipino food (not influenced by the west) and have lost lots of weight. Western food is just no good. That is why diabetes is on the rise in America.

This original post is a couple of years old, and a bit out of date. We have several people currently active on Eons who live in Thailand. I did some research and found that the costs nowadays of living in Thailand are about the same as living in Mexico. If you want to visit the US or Canada from time to time to see you family, Thailand is a LONG way away and a terrible trip. Not to mention really expensive. It is bad enough from where I live in Mexico to the Philadelphia/NYC area.
