Absolutely HB! I bought for myself a brand new Mac Laptop. It's a beauty and I can take it with me wherever I go.
Usually, I buy something not so expensive but I'm going to need next year since I'm going to start my own Translation business. I'm really excited about it!
I'm going to have 3 months training online. Not about learning the language since I'm completely bilingual ( English- Spanish) but it's a marketing course basically, to learn how to get new clients, etc. I'm looking forward to work independently. I want to be my own boss and work from home.
I hope you had a good weekend!
I usually do buy myself a gift, but not this year. I'm saving my money so I can retire next year. That will be my 2010 gift to myself.

Throughout all the previous years...yes...I would gift myself...and had the funds to do it very nicely. I gifted everyone else in my family also.....very nicely.
This year is quite different. There is no money for gifts.
My gift to myself is comprised of talks with my grandchildren about the true meaning of Christmas, letting the granddaughters bake cookies in my kitchen and instilling in them that it is better to give than receive. We participated in the Toys for Tots and my granddaughters will never forget the looks on those childens' faces when they received their gifts.
THAT'S what it's all about.
I sometimes receive some cash for Christmas. I hang on to it, hit the after Christmas or even the February " White Sales " . Get more bang for the buck.
Way to go toomny.....sounds like a great Christmas to me!!!!
Maria, I'm excited about your chance to be a translator and self-employed. What a fabulous opportunity that will be, and there's definitely a market for your services.
Toom, you are right about the true meaning of Christmas not being about the gifts. Bills come first, for sure. I am fortunate enough to have some disposable income after decades of not, but I'm blessed and I know it.
I ordered this ring on the exact two-year anniversary of finding out I had cancer. It's my "Survival Ring" of a lot of things......cancer, sharing my life with the wrong person, the list goes on.
