Pet vs Family members

Pet vs Family members
Do you say you have a family member or a pet? To me Delilah is a family member. I do not own Delilah. If anything, she owns me. We cater to these wonderful balls of fur. It matters not what they are, Dog, cat horse etc. We give them names and each has it's own personality. They keep us warm at night. Yes, I am sure most of you have a furry bed companion. We Dode over them. Running to the vet at the first sign of something out of the ordinary. Cleaning up after them when they are sick is not a chore, but a concern.
We look into their eyes and wonder what they are thinking. When the end is near, nothing is too good for them to keep these wonderful balls of fur comfortable. Oh yes and we laugh at their antics and cry with their pain.

They bring joy into our lives that even our children cannot bring. We brag of their antics and make light of the things they should not have done. We take them to dog parks with anticipation.

We do nothing less for our children, so they are family members. Every emotion that a human can have is delivered by these wonderful bundles of fur.

So you see no matter what, THEY ARE FAMILY MEMBERS. The biggest blessing of my life was the day I met Delilah! I am sure most of you feel the same. So kiss and hug your furry child this morning and thank god he gave this furry blessing.

What you say is so true.....my pups are me kids rather than pets...and I love having 2 warm furry pups in the bed at night... a 2 dogs night. I feel secure and safe with them by my side.

This got me thinking. I don't refer to my dogs as pets. Never use the word. If I were to describe my family, ever, it would always include the animals that live with me. That has ebbed and flowed over the years. My friends are on the Christmas cards too. And I've been making dog biscuits for over 20 years.

My dogs are my kids...and my human kids agree.
We have always considered them family...and have never used the term"pets"
...and yes the whole pack sleeps with me [ all 4] The big guy[ my Rot/Lab mix] provides me a feeling of safety and the little [ 2 Chi's and a Foxterrier] are wonderful "heating pads"....LOL

Great message...could not have stated it better myself....makes me happy to know that there are others out there are as" crazy" for our 4 footed friends as I am.

Well said Joel! Amen! Gracie has always been a family member in my eyes. One of my children, only furrier. Gracie was a gift from God and I will never forget that and always appreciate and love this gift. She has mended my heart in so many ways. The holes and tears in my heart have been lovingly patched by each kiss, each loving look and every funny little thing Gracie does.

God's timing was also perfect, the moment He put her into my life, the day of her birth. I know I have told this story before, so I'll keep it very short and only say, Gracie was born on the same month and day as my stillborn daughter 14 years later. Maggie, my Welsh came into my life shortly after I lost my daughter. In 1999 Maggie was nearing the end of her life and I was afraid of life without her. She was so special to me. I didn't think that any other dog could ever take her place and in some ways, no other dog could. I had a love connection with her and my baby daughter. Only a very special dog could do that and I had no idea where this dog would be found if it existed at all. I knew that Gracie's mother was pregnant and a litter was on its way into the world. At the time, it meant nothing to me except a cute litter of puppies. Her mother belonged to a friend and a customer of my hubby's. We were told immediately of her birth and the birth of her siblings, even though the owners had no idea how special this date was to us. We went to see the puppies and I knew immediately that she was mine and I was hers. She crawled into my coat as I held her and fell asleep, safe and warm. It was a sign from above that couldn't be missed. She has blessed my life for almost 11 years. I pray for many more. I'm so blessed and honored that God made sure she was a part of my life.

We are also blessed to be the grandparents of Dixie. She has also filled our life with so much love and blessings. She makes us laugh all of the time with her silly and cute antics. God has blessed us with having Dixie in our lives as well.

Our family loves them both so very much!
