Oldest of three and the only girl
Merlin, did she ask about gender? Noooooo. But you just got to go on and on, don't you? ;-)
(I think I've got the devil in me tonight)
Fourth of five (3rd girl) I know, redhand, too much information for you:)
Jerry, I found it interesting in that birth order sometimes influences personality. For example:
FIRST BORNS: Goal setters, perfectionists, responsible, detail-oriented and highest achievers.
Famous first borns: Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Geraldo Rivera, Dan Rather, Ted Koppel.
ONLY CHILD: Like first borns but exaggerated. They're extremely responsible, like to do everything perfectly and often get along with people older than themselves.
Famous only children: Frank Sinatra, Robert DeNiro, Elton John, Lauren Bacall, Robin Williams.
MIDDLE CHILD: They're constantly trying to outdo other siblings and are 25% less likely to be sent to a private school and 5 times more likely to be held back a grade. They tend to rebel, be competitive and may feel they don't belong. They're flexible, diplomatic peacemakers who are generous, outgoing and social.
Famous middle children: David Letterman, Donald Trump.
YOUNGEST CHILD: The youngest is usually spoiled, protected and somewhat babied by the family. They grow up feeling they can do no wrong. They are risk takers who love attention, creative idea people and have a good sense of humor. They can be manipulative, persuasive and persistent. Because of this, they have a greater risk of psychiatric disorders or substance abuse problems.
Famous youngest children: Katie Couric, Goldie Hawn, Jim Carrey, Jay Leno, Billy Crystal and Steve Martin.
Some of these personality traits apply to my own children.
