Thanks for the warning. I plan on seeing it, but may take a dramamine before going in.
Personally I can't wait to see it, whether it has that rep or not. I've never been to a 3D movie, so I have a novice's question: Are the 3D glasses given to the attendees when they buy the tickets as part of the ticket price, or are they obtained in some other way?
RR.....I wanted to know the same thing. They sure look upgraded from the paper ones theaters used to give out. I can't imagine wearing glasses others have worn so that's a good question. I'm thinking seriously about getting the ultimate experience and seeing it at IMAX and to think when I first saw the trailer months ago i wasn't that interested.
I was looking foward to seeing it. Thanks for the warning!!!
I guess I'm a sucker for this movie. I can't wait to see it. I wnted to go during Christmas but I know I'll have to put up with the crowds. Maybe I'll wait a couple of weeks until the crowds die down.
FRANKENTHAL...apparently a lot of people did not get sick.
Saw it yesterday: in 3D:::::did not get sick:::::
Beautiful to look at; crappy script: Very theological: The soldiers are the villains; the natives are blue; flat nosed; and very limber:::::they are the heros: Extremely violent ending::::too long and too brutal
I got to see it in 3D yesterday. If driving in falling snow at night makes you nauseous you might want to avoid this one, otherwise it's just stereo-optic in nature. Loved it, but agree with the tone of your assessment, LP.
Hi,
I saw "Avatar" a few days ago. I was certainly psyched! The visuals were stunning; for someone like me (painter, quilter, and so many other arts and crafts), I was amazed and thrilled with the colors, patterns, and textures. I loved the movie, until I was on the way home and realized how much I disliked most of the plot. What a tired, overwrought plot line and characterizations! I may be getting old and cranky - but how many more times do I have to hear about the "living in harmony with nature" people; the greedy, grasping, don't give a damn about anything but money corporations; and the xenophobia, murderous, kill-anything-that-moves and isn't-us military? I am surprised and shocked at my reaction - me, who marched against the Vietnam War and for Civil Rights! I did like the love story and the strong female characters.
Anyway, I do get violently motion sick (I get sick in the car wash), so I was concerned about the 3-D. But I made it through the movie without a twinge. Yes, you do buy the glasses, which a big and heavy-duty plastic. I wear glasses and the 3-D glasses fit over my regular glasses. You can keep the glasses or put them in the recycle bin in the theater lobby when you leave.
