The burn out rate on your job must be very high . My neighbor is head of child protective services for Nassau County , so we hear lots of very depressing stories .

I couldn't watch the whole video. I'm definitely aware of the problem. I see child abuse — especially child sexual abuse — as the same as murder. The damage to the victim is often lifelong.
These abusers may be more dangerous than murderers because pedophiles don't stop. Most murders are a one-time thing.
A friend has testified in court on behalf of children many times. People with no money and no vote — like children — tend to get screwed.
Until the Justice System in the US of A places a higher value on a child's life the abuse will not begin to decrease. I've preached this for years--and yet it seems to fall on deaf ears. Children learn to read--they watch tv--hear news on the radio. If we sit back and think they don't hear about the person who raped a child and went to prison for 5-10 years we're foolish! These children know that not a lot happens to those who abuse children. Right now I have a baby on my caseload--mom confessed to me, a detective, was videotaped on how she attempted to choke this baby when he was 8 weeks old. Yet our DA's office won't charge her because there weren't marks on the wee-lil' baby's neck! This is a travesty---someway, somehow we have to get the message to Capitol Hill that this an important issue....ok, now I'll kick my soapbox back to the corner...
Sing it Sweet! I couldn't do what you do, I'd be in prison for sure!
The worst thing we ever did was have that 'unite the family' program. A little boy in the next county was placed in foster care at a few months. His mother went through the program and the foster parents tried to explain what the child was like after his supervised visits with his mother. No one listened. He only lived a few weeks back under his mother's care. It broke his foster family's heart.
I think the death penalty belongs to pedophiles and family members who abuse their children. But, at the very least, sterilize them and NEVER give the children back.
I have wondered how the decision making process works at dhs? how many steps? what is the criteria? how is the decision made.
I found the guy singing annoying. for me a narrator would have worked better.

a question jumped into my head are there age ranges where abuse tends to be higher. For me i figure women abuse their chidren more so then men (for lots of reasons) are there any marital correlations that helps a protective service worke assess lethaligy(?) in a home besides alcohol; & drug use?

I could not watch either video. I couldn't even click on them. Sweet, you must be an angel to be able to save these children and go after the bad guys in these cases.
I agree--the idea that a child is better of with a parent no matter what is not a good idea. There are too many damaged people in the world.
The idea of seterilization may seem harsh, but it is practical.
And thank you, Sweet, for what you do.
