I think alot of tv today is terrible. It encourages violence in our society. But, as long as that is what the people in general want and watch, that is the way it is going to be.

I always look at the ratings pg etc. for movies. If they are not suitable for children THEY ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR ME!!!

Then I rave to my friends about the good shows like Monk, White Collar [my favorites] that have a good stroy line and no violence, sex, blood, guts, profanity. They are a pleasure.

I think its so degrading. Why anyone would go on a show like that is amazing to me. I've gotten tired of all the sex on TV and the cursing in movies etc. The F word every other word shows a lack of substance.

I like all types of TV, and yes some of them are violent, sexual, adult in content - but then as an adult who can pick and choose what I wanna see - I do. Unfortunately, its' the way the content is handled and things are glorified that bothers me. Such shows as Rock of Love, anything on Fox News which I feel is slanted (and that horrid Anne Coulter is a snake), Jerry Springer crap - that stuff I won't watch. Now I can sit down and watch shows like Nip/Tuck, Discovery Channel, PBS, Project Runway, House, Criminal Minds and anything Sci Fi or Horror to name a few. I guess what I'm saying is to each his own. But I'd never let a child, pre teen or teen watch some of the crap on tv, and some of the stuff that is geared towards them is abhorent ! But, as parents/guardians it is our responsiblitiy to say what our kids can watch. for the longest time, I didn;t let my grandson watch Southpark, although his friends were watching it. it wasn't until he turned 14 and his mom/dad/me could explain some of the issues brought up by that show that he was allowed to watch it.
But these are my choices and opinions, which are not for everyone....I just really enjoy well done programming where I can learn, enjoy or just let my brain go to mush ! If I could only watch pg rated tv, or censored tv - my brain would hurt. I like diversity and to be able to pick and choose.

I'm totally against censorship in reading, viewing (of all types) and speech. I do think though that anything above a pg rating should be on later in the evening. It should be up to the parent to decide what there child sees and hears. Are all choices that a parent makes right? Probably not, but it beats the alternative.

Don't do much TV anymore. Documentary channel, LinkTV, some news (can't watch THAT too long)...when I do watch. My computer seems to be my TV now...I can usually find the stuff I LIKE on my 'puter , keep up with whats on Doc and Link,or pop in a movie.

My husband is a channel surfer -- ugh! There is a show that we have stumbled across that I kind of like called Pawn Stars. It's about this family that owns a Pawn shop in Las Vegas. It's cute.

I don't watch much TV anymore & hate the Springer type shows & Reality shows. My husband channel surfs & it drives me nuts too. I ask him to please tune into the guide but he says he doesn't know what he wants to watch until he sees it. Brother. I loved Alfred Hitchcock & watched closely to see his cameo apperance.

I used to love Jerry Springer's show but now I just feel dirty if I try to watch it...lol..Guess I outgrew it or something..I'm not crazy over "people against people" violence, but I could watch the Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal over and over and it does not bother me..I use to be into the Texas Chain Saw Massacre and all that but as I get older, I don't like them..At one time you could watch those kind of movies and it was just a horror movie, but now people are actually doing it in real life and its just scary..of course, if it comes down to a horror movie or one with sex all in it, I'll pick the horror...lol..I don't care to see others having sex or even implying that they are..
