::::::::puts big bow on head, wraps twinkle lights all around me and cartwheels thru the room singing "Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly" at the top of my lungs:::::::: There! If that doesn't get you in the spirit, it should at least give you a good giggle!

Well -- try thinking about what you are grateful for. Here's what I call my "grateful poem" -- it's about dying and was written by Tecumseh, a Native American -- I read it every day - it's humbling and uplifting at the same time:

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.
Trouble no one about his religion.
Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours.
Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life.
Seek to make your life long and of service to your people.
Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend,
or even a stranger, if in a lonely place.
Show respect to all people, but grovel to none.
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light,
for your life, for your strength.
Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living.
If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools
and robs the spirit of its vision.
When your time comes to die,
be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death,
so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time
to live their lives over again in a different way.
Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."

There is nothing like a nice warm kiss underneath the mistletoe toe. That usually does it for me, the trouble is I don't have a kisser around so I can only think back and use my memories!

I have a friend (married) who has had an extremely hard year with lots of setbacks. She insisted I come over for my homemade Christmas gift, and I'm like -- no, those are things you can sell. She's like... insisting.

SO, I decided to be gracious, and also to fight fire with fire! I wrapped up a couple things that I happened to have (used books, etc.) for both of them, got a bottle of their favorite wine, and a tin of cookies, and showed up looking like Santa! I picked out my gift and we had wine and cheese and crackers and it was such fun!! They had several Christmas trees up, and a fire in the fireplace. REALLY got me feeling like it was Christmas!

Surprise someone, and enjoy the look on their face...

sometimes ya' gotta forge ahead even tho' the "spirit" is lacking...that's my cure--I put my tree up the day before Thanksgiving--did most of my real shopping ahead and got things wrapped and under the tree....even tho' holidays are a horribly depressing time for me I refuse to 'roll over' and let the depression have its way...

Honeybee, Easy may want a few 'ho's! I'm sort of in a funk too. The kids are on the other side of the country so I didn't even put up the tree. I've been sort of busy with other things so I haven't really focused on it. It is suppose to snow on Saturday. Maybe that will help? Not when I have to shovel it!
Have a good Christmas anyway.
