One For The Women

HONOLULU -- A former high school football star, who got a break from prosecutors on sex assault charges, may not be living up to his part of the plea bargain.
Rico Newman, 21, who was a star at Leilehua High School, was allowed to avoid jail for beating and sexually assaulting his girlfriend, who is now his wife.
Newman was given the deal so he could pursue his football career at a mainland college, but instead he dropped out after only a week and came home, prosecutors said.
"Doing nothing, he has not been working, he has not continued his anger management. My understanding is he is now on disability for what he claims is a learning disability," Deputy Prosecutor Leilani Tam said.
"He is trying. He just needs a little more guidance in the things he has to do," defense attorney Jerry Villanueva said.
Newman's attorney said two colleges are still interested in Newman.
The judge delayed his sentence for a month so the defense could bring in more evidence that Newman is seeking education or employment.
Prosecutors said he should not be allowed to have his record wiped clean.

OK ladies why oh why would you marry anyone who has sexually assaulted and beat you? And this guy is claiming to have a "learning disability"? It sounds to me the "girlfriend/wife" is learning disabled .... Carole said if she had her way the guy would be penis disabled! that's my wife!

So to get this straight in my head he rapes her and she married him .... wonderful .. to say are educational system is in trouble is an understatement ... the education in the home is in worse shape .... she belongs in counselling and he belongs in jail.

What also disturbed me was the interest by other colleges in this loser so that he could join their athletic program. I think there's been too much of a shift in this direction and away from academics...it seems that all these schools are interested in is if someone can throw a football, shoot a 3 pointer or hit it over the wall.

When it comes to sports our culture's values are totally screwed up.
If your good at hitting a little ball with a big stick you can get anything you want.

One of the local high school football teams is playing for the state championship this weekend and you would think they were going to the superbowl. A School board is having emergency meeting because they need a head coach for next season

But last month a bond issue for the building a much needed technical high school got voted down because it would raise taxes one or two dollars

when did famous and infamy become the same thing? The bigger concern for me is the fact a young women would marry her rapist!

The world is going to hell in a hand-basket, You are only isolated by being on a huge bunch of Islands, the real America is coming, and taking You with it. Isn't it sad?
I am in the north of the U.S. and My nearest big city Minneapolis is now known as Murderapolis.
Unless we move to Antartica, we are doomed, I tell You doomed!

First let me say that I love Spikey! Thanks for marrying her Ron.

This is not a rare situation in the inner-city schools. Girls are accepting of being mistreated horribly and buy the "I'm sorry. I love you" line. We try to explain to the girls that they can certainly do better, that if it happens once it will happen again, etc. It is disheartening to see them walking down the hall behind these boys the next day...

The pleasure is all mine ... I found a wonderful women .... I treat her as the Queen she is ... she walks with me, not behind me .... she loves me and I know it ... and she knows I love her ... we holds hands, we kiss in public, and we even neck on the sofa! it saddens me these young men and women think so little of themselves ... SStill, I know the schools do what they can but it starts at home ... if the parents don't instill a sense of worth in their children there is nothing the schools can do ....

Thanks SStill! Right back at ya!

And as to what my hubby said, Yes. It does need to start in the home, learning self esteem, boundaries and the confidence needed to stand up to your peers when needed. Kinda difficult when the parents themselves probably don't know.

We cut funding for education and then are surprised at this kind of thing. Someone once said that Fascism will come to America carrying a flag and a cross. The Communist party once stated that to control America merely dumb down the population and the take over is easy.
