Oh yeah, I do remember those shoulder pads! I hated to let them go!!!
I am more steeped in the 80s than most because Carrie's band, Molly and the Ringwalds, plays 80s music. So I hear the music all the time and we are constantly looking for 80s clothes at thrift stores for her to wear when they have a gig.
But the shoulder pads did not agree with me.
women shouldn't lool like line backers.........glad those pad left.
I liked the shoulder pads.
The Eighties - big hair, jelly shoes, those shoulder pads, Hammer pants, Miami Vice look, high top sneakers, skinny ties, The A-Team, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Not our finest hour, that's for sure.
A woman once told me that she tried on a suit that consisted of a blouse that was very low cut with a camisole meant to wear beneath the blouse, a jacket to top everything and a skirt.
The skirt was the only component of the suit that lacked shoulder pads! She said that was the only camisole she ever saw with shoulder pads. She put the entire outfit on and walked out of the fitting room to show her husband who asked whether she could still hear with all that material blocking her ears.
I tried on a coat during the 1980s and the shoulder pads were so large and the neckline so low (on a wool winter coat???!!!) that it wouldn't stay on me but slid continually off as I stood in front of the mirror.
