432 MEMBERS IN OUR GROUP,

Notice that there are 432 members in our group. Where are they??? Any of you have friends who are in this group?

Who knows where they are, and I only have online friends in this or any group in Eons, but they are great ones to have!!! :)

I try to post when I have something salient to say. There are some posts where I just don't understand what the poster is looking for: some are vague, but I do enjoy this group immensely. I'm not sure if I know anyone here or not but a hell of a lot of people never write a word.

We would VERY much like to encourage those who may be a little shy about posting to dip their toe in the water, maybe just say "Hello! I'm still here!" You'll be warmly greeted

10% of the people in a group are the ones who do the posting. The other 90% either just read, only want to be entertained, rarely visit, joined & never came back, or are inactive altogether for whatever reason. This can give the impression that a group seems lopsided, cliquish, or not very active or interesting. Thankfully, we who visit IW often know there are some interesting characters here indeed!

And if a post is unclear to *anyone*, don't hesitate to ask for clarification! It's critical to good communication. And it can actually lead to some pretty neat revelations :-)

The credit for such a wonderful group goes to MoonDancerInRed, Sylk, redhand, and feywon who have been fantastic in their efforts here. Some intelligent people seem to enjoy the clash of differing opinions without the clash of personalities! Kudos and thanks to all of you moderators and the group owner.

I am just amazed at how many of you have so much time for the computer! By the time I answer, I am usually on the 2nd or 3rd page of replies. My suggestion - leave the screen and get out and do things! I apologize to anyone who is handicapped and cannot. I do think the computer is addicting!

Don't forget -- thanks to rickydale also, who was here as a mod but took an extended detour in the tropics, LOL!! Somethin' about those nude beaches, I guess ;-)

And mountainviewer is right -- taking a walk or being otherwise productive is a good idea. At least once a week anyway, ha!

If you pay attention, a persone might reply to one thread, and then do so two or three weeks later. That's okay with me. People get to do what they want, without direction from me!

Sylk said it all. When I owned a group I waited until a person hadn't visited the group in over a month and then I cancelled their membership. In most groups there is a small nucleus of people that participate on a regular basis.

I imagine a bunch of members are not even ON eons any more.
I HAD a friend on eons, her profile page is still on here but I think she either died or is not able to get on the pc any longer...it's been over a yr since I last heard anything from her...that raises a 'red' flag.

I would hope that managers and mods would not be too hasty about canceling memberships. I know in my case I have had extended periods of time (months) in which I had very little computer and internet time. Real life has a way of interfering with one's cyber reality on occasion.
I believe in balance in everything (well, almost everything LOL) - and how much time I spend in "reality" vs. how much I spend online depends on how much fun I'm having where. I enjoy learning and the internet is a great place for that. Conversations sometimes lead me down a track that has a domino effect leading to some incredible information via the internet. For example just the other day I found myself wanting to defend my position that social justice (including capital punishment) is quite different from a personal vendetta. Reading more Hume, Kant, Socrates, and others again was fun. When I'm having fun I keep on until something else seems to be more fun at that moment.
ALSO ... about the number of posters from a group, I am certain that there are many "lurkers" who read posts without adding a reply very often (if ever). That is okay with me - whatever they are comfortable with, but in truth I would prefer hearing from everyone if it is nothing but a head nod.
Some people don't spell very well, don't have great grammar, and have been criticized although their points are just as valid as anyone else.
I enjoy this group more than any other on EONS, and I appreciate that many others have come to enjoy it as well. You really are wonderful people!
This group was virtually re-created from the ashes of its former self about a year ago. I doubt that there are very many "red flag" types who don't ever participate.
