I know I have discussed this before, and I have gotten used to being paranoid after my scans until the results come in. This time it was frankly even worse for me as rather than being a scheduled one it was precipitated by something they didn't like on an esophagram that was nearer my lungs rather than my throat. I told no one of my fears and just told myself to try to put it out my mind ( from the Italian movie Fatta Chance )
but I would be lying to say I slept well. The CAT scan was Friday and I have also gotten used to waiting as much as a week for results so when tonight at 8 o'clock when my oncologist called my first thought was " Jesus, they close at 6 so this can't be good news". As it turned out my oncologist knowing my fears was working late and knowing me well called as soon as he could to say that my results were fine and not to fret. I know I am not the only one here who goes through this and there is not much we can do about it. I once asked an 18 year survivor, who also happens to be a doctor, if you ever get used to it, and he just smirked and said "Nope". Anyhow my mini crisis is over for now just in time for Xmas. It is the best gift I could get. I wish you all such a gift this holiday season.Bless you all.
