Fresh eggnog that isn't too sweet works for me. And oh yes, lots of rum or bourbon. I'll have to try the Borders 'nog latte -- thanx for the tip, Lyn! (Gotta find a Borders around here -- the only bookstore I know of near NE Tempe is Barnes & Noble in Tempe Marketplace, near my apt.)

In my home town back in Delaware there is a Dairy that makes the best eggnog I have ever had. All you need to do is add a little brandy or rum if you want an alcohol drink but it is just as good without any liquor in it.
In back it is soooo thick and creamy that I have been known to add some skim milk to thin it out.
Yum Yum...but....there won't be any egg nog latte's for me this year...I am still watching my weight and hoping not to blow it over the holidays.
I tried eggnog a couple of times in years past & just didn't care for it at all. Maybe if I had the right kind I'd have a different attitude, but just not inclined to try it - plain or spiked. And I won't EVEN mention the calories!!!
Nope, never liked the taste but made it for years for friends and family, with and without liquor. The whole salmonella thing a few years ago made it difficult to buy anything but the cooked version. Anyone make their own from scratch?
Nope, not to my taste either. I always had some in the house during the Holidays though for those that liked it.
Oh geez... there are so many fattening things that I love, I decided to give up eggnog. LOL Seriously, the only eggnog I had as a kid was what my parents used as a base for their rum and I did not like it so I never acquired a taste for it.
Thank goodness there is SOMETHING I can pass on.
I used to make a hot wassail with cranberry, grape juices, plus oranges, brown sugar, cinnamon and tons of cointreau and other alcohols.. ended up passed out on the floor two years in a row and decided to stop making it.
I love eggnog (but then again, I love fruitcake). However, my NEW thing for the holidays is Pumpkin Pie Martinis.
Oh, shiione, dangling such temptation!!! I'm not much of a drinker, and I'm not big on sweet drinks, but that one sounds intriguing enough to check out. And that wassail, from Ladydulcinea, sounds pretty doggone wonderful. And, btw, shiione -- I like fruitcake, too, especially small slices toasted, with butter. Nummmmms! (Thanx, Lyn, I'll check out Mill!)
