Would you want a Drive in theater in your neighborhood?? Would you go if there were one? Have you ever been?
Here is a link if you are interested in locating a working drivein.

I wouldn't go to one if there was one, but I think the kids would love it. In the 80's there was still one drive-in theater open in the Tulsa area and I went a couple of times.

I would definitely go if we had one. We lost the only remaining drive-in theater left on Vancouver Island many years ago. Big bucks stepped in, and it was dug up and a mall took its place. I have so many fond memories of them from childhood. We'd sneak in through a hole in the fence behind the screen, and play on the playground that was just in front of the screen. Then, when it got really dark, we'd sit close enough to be able to hear the movie when it began. No one seemed to care about the poor picture quality and the even worse sound. Aahh, yes, "those were the good old days."

When the kids were little and we all wanted a night out, we'd pile the kids in the car in their jammies, and go to the drive-in. Before the movie was over they'd be asleep, especially if it was a double feature. (remember those?) Perfect for families who couldn't get a sitter, convenient and cheap too. No more drive in movies now--replaced by a Sam's.

I went to the drive-ins and there were many of them in the area where I grew up in So Cal. It has to be in a place where the climate is temperate enough for them to stay open year round. There was one here in Central Oregon back in the '50s but it couldn't have been profitable, we have at least 5 months where the temps are usually below freezing at night. It's been closed down for a long time and I think it was demolished to make way for a golf driving range ... which also went under.

Drive-ins are fun. I felt a lot of girls up when I was young and now actually go to see the movie and eat and drink whatever I please.

Yes, always loved the driv-ins. Much better than the regular theaters. I thought they were all gone. Lived in New Hampshire. Then moved to Tennessee. There are 2 I have discovered that while not really close to me - are in trevelable distance.

I have been going to the drive ins since I was a little girl with my parents. Don't remember any movies....too busy playing in the playground with my sisters and visiting the refreshment center. Guess my parents were not able to pay a baby sitter or there was none. Went to them until the city tore it down to build a shopping mall. I sure would go to one again if they were around anymore. I loved them and you can watch or not and talk all you want without being hushed!!!!

I live about twenty minutes from the Oldest Drive-in in the Country, Shankweiler's Drive-In. view link

I live about 5 minutes from another Drive-In, Becky's Drive-In, which just added a second screen. view link

If that wasn't enough, I am about 30 minutes away from the Mahoning Valley Drive-In view link

With all these Drive-Ins around you would think I would have been to see the movies there many times. I have yet to get to one movie at any of them. I keep meaning to, but just haven't made the time.

We have one drive-in theater left in our valley. I haven't been in years. We'd sneak in, make out, drink and all the bad old things.

I usually shop at a store that stands where a drive-in once stood with a great view of the valley. One of Life magazine's commemorative editions has a picture of that drive-in on its cover with a beautiful sunset behind.

When I was stationed in Hawaii, I liked the drive-in because it was like being back home, except there were huge bug zappers that fried really big bugs
