I've tried and tried; I like most musical genre but I just can't get excited about jazz. Some jazz is OK, some is really good, but I'm sitting here typing and listening to NPR (I often listen to the news on NPR in the morning) and the news is over and the "Morning Cup of Jazz" is on and it SUCKS. It's discordant, undisciplined, and, in my TOTALLY UNINFORMED OPINION, unmusical.
JD...I'm right there with you. As you said, some of it is OK, some is really good, but the rest.....no thank you. There are few other types of music that can set my teeth on edge so easily. I obviously just don't get it.
I'm not trying to pick a fight, Tess, and I acknowledged that there is good jazz out there. My problem is likely ignorance, but it just seems to me that the bar for jazz is set too low.
Well, here's some jazz that I like A LOT. I just don't like all of it and I don't listen to that. It's not a matter of right or wrong guys...it's just a matter of what one likes!
Al Jarreau is from Milkwaukee........he's great Just showing my musical knowledge. I like Diana Krall, Stanley Turrentine.....and too many many more to mention here...... Also, I can't remember anymore names because I'm old.
