I watched it Saturday night and made crepes ( for the first time) Sunday morning for breakfast. I am not a breakfast perso, nor a morning person. I just wanted to cook something French, found an easy recipe online, and made them, lol! It was fun.
What a fun movie! Meryl Streep is untouchable as always. The whole premise was unique and interesting. I imagine it truly was stressful for Julie in real life, to cook all those recipes after working all day!
I just saw it yesterday. I LOVED it. Meryl Streep is such a fantastic actress - and person. I very much like Amy Adams as well. It's a delightful film
I like Meryl Streep..she is a brilliant actress....but.......She should not have taken this part. It did nothing for her!
I thought this movie was slow and boring. I actually fell asleep watching it.
I was more intrigued with Julie's (Amy Adams) part in the movie.
Out of all the cook books I have, and I have a LOT, I didn't have The Art of French Cooking. Well, I now have it. So far I have made the Beouf Bourginon and the Almond Chocolate Cake. As Julie said in the movie,"YUM". I love to cook but had really gotten lazy, this movie reminded me of how much I enjoyed cooking.
I loved this movie, I found it so delightful. Amy was so cute. When it was over, I wanted butter, so made my friend give me the remainder of her buttered popcorn.
I enjoyed the movie too. I couldn't believe though that Julie made all those difficult recipes after a full day at work!
I really am looking forward to seeing this movie. The scenes I've seen with Meryl as Julia is so spot on...sounds like Julia and acts like her too, I remember Julia being on TV so many years ago.
The movie looks like it will be entertaining.

Amazing how the film made Meryl look tall. (Julia Child was well over six feet tall). How did they accomplish this? (Besides putting a short man next to her as her husband?) Do you think this movie or its players will win awards?
Penny, I watched some of the extras from the Lord of the Rings DVDs and they showed how they made some of the characters look larger or smaller than other characters by having them stand at different heights or by having one closer to the camera than another, having duplicate objects at different scales, etc. It was interesting to see, though it did take away some of the "magic" of the films.
