DISCLAIMER ...... THIS IS A VIDEO ABOUT GUNS AND GUN CONTROL. IF THIS WOULD BOTHER YOU, THEN PLEASE DO NOT VIEW THE VIDEO ABOUT SWITZERLAND AND HOW THEY HANDLE THIS.
Switzerland has a low crime rate and its citizens are ready, willing, and able to protect themselves. Why...... view this video. Would you like to enjoy this in our country? Don't let our government take this right away from you, as Hitler did.
I applaud the Swiss for making certain their citizenry is armed and more importantly, well trained to used the weapons properly. They store them properly and they are encouraged to keep up their skills in the handling of these weapons. I am for gun control but that is because any fool can get a gun in this country, no training required in many states. Putting a gun in the hands of someone who does not know how to use it is an accident waiting to happen. The Swiss are actually controlling their weapons much more than we, and it seems to be working. I like the concept and clearly they have a reason to worry based on the history of Europe.
I do believe in manditory federal service for all citizens. If you have religious objections then they can work in veterns hospitals. We need to remember freedom has a cost.
The jest of the story annie is that every man in Switzerland is trained by the military and issued a weapon that they keep at home. They have a low crime rate and an armed citizenry and it works ......
As I remember it: The Swiss require all citizens to serve their country. They are trained in the use of AK7's and they are required to bring them home and secure them after their service. They hold a national holiday where whole families go to the range and practise shooting these weapons so they keep up their skills in their use. The government supplies the ammunition and it looked somewhat like our 4th of July, only at the target range instead of at the pool or beach. They expect that if attacked the Swiss people can mount a fully armed militia of regular citizens ready and able to serve again within 48 hours. I bet they can, too!
Oh......I think that's a great idea........I have always said the problem in this country is that the bad guy knows most don't have a weapon and no way to defend themselves....and also if a person does defend themselves they are the one that gets in trouble......if you shoot someone for breaking in.....they can sue you and take you to court......after all......they have more rights then you do.
I think we might want to shamelessly borrow what works....arming TRAINED citizenry with weapons. I had to pass a driver's test, written AND practical, in order to drive. Yet one swipe of my AmEx bought my .38 pistol....it's just a byproduct that I was trained in weapon use when I was a WAC, and my father instructed me as a girl in how to use rifles and shotguns.
Somehow, one of my fifth grade groups got to talking about guns last week, and I mentioned owning one, and was asked if I could/would use it on anyone? I said if someone breaks into my home, I absolutely would shoot them, without a pause. They looked surprised, and I said "Think about it. If someone breaks into my home instead of knocking on my door, are they planning on good things or bad things?" The kids acknowledged it would be for "bad things" and I said, "So if someone breaks into my locked home and wants to do bad things, I'm going to shoot them." They understood my logic, even though it surprised them to hear kind Ms. G. talk about shooting someone!
That was an interesting video. Thanks. I know here in AZ anyone can own a gun but you must wear it exposed. It is only if you apply for a concealed permit that you must take a class. I am going to be taking a class on how to use a pistol and try out several models at the range with an instructor before I get my gun, and yes I am going to get one. I have been told that the areas I have been hiking in have animals that might need some encouragement to move along.
We have the right to protect our property and ourself. If someone is breaking in your house, you can shoot them....dead. There's an incident that just happened, here in OK. A lady was alone in her house...outside of town somewhat, and a man was breaking in her home. The 911 call was aired on tv. She shot him and killed him. (It was ok'd by the sheriff's office right then and there on the phone) The guy was 53, had just ran his car off in the ditch and was a doper and was crazy. She did us all a big favor. I applaud her !!
