Yup,
I use a 1/2 gallon milk carton and throw all my loose change in it! It normally takes 2/3 - 1 yr to fill it. Then I'll use it for a special dinner, a special yard tool I've been wanting, etc.
Yes, and when there's enough my husband rolls them and cashes them at the bank. We've used the change for assorted things.

cigar boxes for me. only one style or brand. When one is full i start the next. I've rolled , cashed in and used this money in the past to buy my first cam-corder, an auto and a few trips. I always tell the kids what's left is their inheritance. One of the buggers actually asked me to have the coin rolled. Little does she know she may be outta the will..lol, not ever.
We use an old mason jar. We never spend our change, and when full, my husband checks the coins to see if any are rare. Then it gets rolled and cashed at the bank. We usually get a few hundred dollars a year. PM7
I do same my change. Haven't done much saving this year because daughter, gson, and gdaughter lived with me a few months and they think if you have change it should be used for something. My oldest gson and I usually have a contest to see who collects the most change in a year. He won this year by a lot!
I had a big beautiful piggy bank when I was young and would save up my pennies dimes and nicholes. When I used to go count it every now and then, it was empty. We were so poor and had alot of animals to feed that my aunt would take the money to help feed them or us. I never said a word, as I knew (or thought I knew) why the moeny was needed. She could have used it to buy beer. I have a hugh bottle that is filled and a coffee can and a box lid, but all just sit there. I need to go thru them to find any good, old coins. A friend saves all her loose change in a jar and at the end of the year, this is what she uses to buy her husbands Christmas gift....usually $300 or more!
Mine is an oversized mayonnaise jar, painted a piggy face on it...now it's a "piggy bank!" I have saved changed for our Grandkids. It's enough to give them some spending money on a vacation or summer vaca. I use the grocery store to count it and lose the % for convenience. It adds up to a couple of hundred, in a year or so. Change counts...
