Few things would encourage me more than the demise of organized religion as it exists today.

"Will religion give way to some other form of spirituality?"
I guess I am somewhat pessimistic about human nature. Although I do believe (and hope) that Christianity will give way to other forms of spirituality, and is doing so today, once these other forms of spirituality become more prevalent, and more people experience and practice them, new organized religions will arise from them and bury that spirituality under layers of rituals and rules.
Yes, we have this insatiable appetite to add "features" to what would otherwise be simple by contrast.
I think the Roman Catholic Church is ahead of the curve on this one. For as we await confirmation that Gliese 581D has organic life, we must address the reality that life did not originate on this planet. Where it came from and when (and even if it is still arriving on asteroids and meteorites), we won't know simply from evidence on Earth. Creationism and Darwinism as it relates to the origin of life are both wrong. Intelligent Design may be closer to the truth, but not in the way that its supporters think.
What I'm saying is very simple. On the issue of God and the origin of life, we're back at square one.
Isn't our ignorance great?
Well, that article just seems to be some church spokesmen making a lot of unsubstantiated claims. I didn't see any references to any studies undertaken about the issues, just a lot of opinions expressed as 'facts'.
But if we define 'religious' as a person holding a specific, and institutionalized set of beliefs who acts on those beliefs by attending the religions' proscribed ceremonies, and acting in accordance with its precepts, then I think that anyone will agree that today, we all know more non-religious people than religious people.
If we define 'religious' as a person holding a specific and institutionalized set of beliefs but who does not act on them, i.e. attend that religion's services regularly, nor following the precepts, etc., then we can say we know slightly more religious people than in the first definition.

Is there some kind of link between atheism & vegitarianism?

My belief is that those who need to believe in a religion are welcome to it. I simply believe in forces of good and forces of evil and see man as constantly being torn between the two. Spirituality is my thing, I guess. But please don't try to force your beliefs on me - I don't force mine on you.
But the question is: are religious people viewed as oddities? Are they?
I don't think there is a link between atheism and vegetarianism yichel I'm just pointing out that young people are having different ideas than their elders.
