A Few Haiku

Haiku is one of my favorite poetic forms. Here are my humble attempts to write a few of my own:

a fluttering flame
in the pine tree
as the sun rises!
only a cardinal

evening of a long rainy day
one ray of sunlight
through the clouds
robin breaks into song

cloudy spring day
forsythia awakens
blossoms like the sun

mountain stream
dashes against rocks
then flows freely
my life's journey

thank you rs - lovely to see the variants - much history and tradition in your haiku - and they're very, very lovely to see and feel and experience, on this cloudy winter day

We have many cardinals in my part of the Country.

On a raw, cloudy and blustery day, seeing Mr. and Mrs. cardinal darting about adds a splash of color to an otherwise dreary afternoon.
