I remember trying dog food as a kid. Dry..of course and it came in big chunks almost the size of a charcoal briquet. In fact one was black and tasted like charcoal. Trust me, one tiny nibble of each kind was more than enough for me...and I always made sure to slip my friends dog food from the table after that. That food was EWWWWWWWW !
Drank soapy bathwater once - not sure why - make me sicker than...well, it made me really sick!
I didn't eat any bizarre non-food items as a kid , but because I spent a lot of time in the woods and fields , I ate a lot of wild and natural foods . I ate hickory nuts , pecans , blackberries , huckleberries, wild plums , crabapples, muscadines , scuppernongs, crawfish ,frogs, rabbit, squirrel, dove, quail, bream, bass, catfish, and trout. I used to chew sassafrass roots and put the buds from sweet shrubs in my nose too .

I used to try paste....it was minty....kinda liked it....and there was some kinda plant that was light green....never knew what it was....very sour....we loved it.....I tried paper....it did nothing for me.....but now sidewalk salt was pretty good...lol
Got a box of chocolate covered insects (assorted varieties) ate one of each on a dare!
Caterpillar sucked! It was still juicy! Probably why I don’t care for milk chocolate (love dark!)
Used to touch my grandpap’s steptic pencil (alum) to my tongue because it was so bitter it was cool!

We always kept silkworms as kids. The big dare was to put them on your tongue. Not actually eat the things, just rest them on your tongue for as long as possible.
Goodness, Dirck, you are in the Michelin gourmet league.
