Health Care Confusion and Questions...

OK, the Senate just ended the Public Option. As of right now I'm really not sure just what is in the Bill, and what is not.

Does anyone have a handle on this as it now stands.

I think that they are now saying that they will add about 55 million people to Medicare, but are cutting Medicare by a Half Trillion $$$... That does not compute.

Does anyone know what is going on...

Tap tap tap tap..........I'm waiting too. I want to see healthcare reformed passed. And I want to see ALL americans have health care. I thought the public option gave people choices. The choice to keep what they have now or go with a more affordable policy provided by the government. Choices I like. But I'm still confused about a lot of the crap coming from both sides....lol.

I want universal health care too, Virgo. I'm confused also about what I'm hearing but basically I think we've been sold out to the special interests, the insurance companies and pharmaceutical industry. Most of us will have no choice but to keep paying ever-higher premiums. Sounds like they're planning to expand Medicare somewhat so I suppose that the optimistic point of view would be that it is a step toward single-payer Medicare-for-all coverage. We can only hope. I am disgusted with Congress.

I have no idea. But the public option may not be dead, just repackaged and renamed.
I wondered the same thing, how do we drop the age eligibility for Medicare to 55, adding about 50 million new recipients and still cut Medicare? And where do we get all the new doctors?
I think it will be awhile before any of us understand what's in the works, let alone the final bill.
I do find it interesting that we find ourselves discussing different issues in each bill...as though it's a foregone conclusion a bill will be signed. A nice tactic considering the majority of Americans are not in favor of reform. This bill has less public support than Hillary Care (35%) and yet the legislature trudges on and on.

most people are happy with what they have now...we don't have to tear the whole system apart to make things better...we will have to wait and see how the senate and the house combine their 2 different bills.

jusy saw an interview with joe lieberman...he was asked how he would vote ...his answer was he doesn't know because nobody has been allowed to see the senate version except for the 10 dems. harry reid allowed in the room to "compromise"...it will be 4 to 5 days beforte they get the the cbo estimate....then they can look at it...just great...

Anything less than national health care is just a waste of time.

I understand that those added to Medicare, are those who currently are over 55, under 65 and don't have access to employer health insurance. It really doesn't compute. If you have access to employer insurance plan, then you can't join medicare. And where is the 50 million coming in, supposedly at the most there were only 47million, and that was counting children, and illegal workers.
