As you joy, this year I decorated for myself also. I put up a tree for the first time in the last 4 years or so. I enjoy the small amount of LED light strings I purchased last year at 75%off. I put out my small collection of snow globes and a sprinkling of pine cones, cinnamon sticks and ornament shaped candles under the tree. I don't really know why tis years has been different from the past but I enjoy it each and every night.
I don't mind putting up but finding, taking down and storing is dreaded. I have three Christmas trees somewhere. The kids put them up five years ago and I have NEVER been able to find a tree. I think they put them in storage above the garage and since I have never been up there and will NEVER go up there, I consider them lost forever. The only other things up there is their stuff that they did not take with them when they moved as twenty-somethings. I have a granddaughter who has the same fear of anything unusual that lurks in a garage, she will not go up after her old dolls. We just sit and stare and hope they are doing well. I will someday make the original mover look for the dolls though.
